SLC steering intermediate shaft question

I'd like to make up a short collapsible type of steering intermediate shaft for my SLC and possible future GT-R. Can anyone tell me what size each end is on the universal joint that is attached to the steering rack. I have the Cadillac XLR column. I believe that end is 3/4" double d.

Flaming River makes one but it's big bucks. Their shortest model is 10".

Stainless EZ Fit Shaft: 10" Overall Length - 3" Slip - FR1857-10S - 577 - 5394

I'd be willing to pay that if I couldn't find a cheaper alternative. Safety is a concern for me. The added benefit is reduced steering feel "harshness".

I don't have a precise answer for you but I don't see anybody else offering one. The rack end of that U-joint is a female spline receiver roughly 1/2" in diameter, the other end is 3/4" double D as you've mentioned. I think you might find it easier to just fabricate a simple collapsable section using male and female double D and leave that U-joint as is.
