This just shows that even in the possesion of trained professionals, guns are still very, very dangerous. In the hands of the average untrained gun owner........deadly!

Oh wait I missed the stupid gun deaths. Darwin would help me here but thinning the herd is a fact. How it happens big deal. They don't put the everyday homicides on the front page because the media is into MAKING MONEY. The more bull you read from them, they have a job. Jim don't be naive. Stuff happens, you just don't want it to happen to you. If you don't like guns, stay away from them.
A gun is a tool. Like a hammer or screwdriver or a nail gun, its what you do with it that makes it dangerous.

Marc you dismiss the deaths with............."Stuff Happens"

Here is more "stuff"

Gun Accidents Kill 500 Kids a Year

This week, a toddler fatally shot himself after finding a gun in his parent's car. According to Jackson, Miss., authorities, the 3-year-old was sitting in the car at a gas station when he found the gun in the front seat and shot himself in the face. Police questioned the boy's parents, but no charges have been filed.
But these aren't freak accidents. More than 500 children die annually from accidental gunshots. Some shoot themselves, while others kill friends or siblings after discovering a gun.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found more than 1.7 million children live in homes with loaded and unlocked guns.

And if you do own a gun and think your kid won't get to it, listen to this: A recent study published in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine found 39 percent of kids knew where their parent's guns were stored, while 22 percent said they had handled the weapons despite adult's warnings to stay away.

What's more, age was not a factor in whether children had played with the guns -- 5-year-olds were just as likely to report doing so as
14-year-olds.

Here are just a few heartbreaking cases:

-On July 19, 4-year-old Dylan Jackson shot himself to death after finding a loaded gun at a friend's home during a birthday party.

- A 3-year-old Southeast Washington boy shot himself in the foot and grazed his hand while playing with his father's gun -- which he found lying on the floor.

- A 2-year-old Tampa boy shot himself in the chest with a loaded 9 mm he found in his parent's couch while playing.

- Last February, a 13-year-old boy shot himself with a semiautomatic handgun in the home of his guardian, a Maryland police officer.

- The 10-year-old son of a New York City police officer died after shooting himself in the face with his father's loaded revolver. The boy found the weapon on a shelf in the basement while looking for a ball his mom had hidden.
Is there a way to stop these senseless deaths?

No Jim you are wrong.

There is a lot of misinformation circulating about background checks for gun ownership.
Under the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act—which created the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS)—all federal firearms licensees are required to conduct a background check for all firearms transactions, even if they sell the firearm at a gun show. This is to make sure that the gun isn’t being sold to a person who is prohibited from purchasing a gun under Section 922(g) or (n) of Title 18 of the United States Code, which would include convicted felons, people who have been adjudicated to be severely mentally ill, and people who have been convicted of a domestic violence offense.

Background Checks: The Myth of the Gun Show Loophole

Somemore "accidents" for you Jim.
NCSA Crash*Stats 'Early Estimate of Motor Vehicle Traffic Fatalities for The First Nine Months (January–September) of 2012' (DOT HS 811 706), A statistical projection of traffic fatalities for the first nine months of 2012 shows that an estimated 25,580 people died in motor vehicle traffic crashes. This represents an increase of about 7.1 percent as compared to the 23,884 fatalities that occurred in the first nine months of 2011.

In 9 months, that's twice as many as the total that die each year from guns, accidental and others.

Jim,
I don't know what the worst killer of children, and it is tragic, and I'm sad for their parents loss. My sister-in-law deals with the tragedy of child deaths or terminal ill and help the parents with the ordeal and how to move on as Doctor of neonatal pediatrician (ret).
As a gun is a dangerous instrument, people are instinctively aware of that danger. Do accidents happen, all the time. But to shout at the top of your lungs that guns should be outlawed when carelessness and stupidity are the reasons that most of the accidents that happen then what are really asking for? You can't outlaw crazy anymore. The asylums are technically gone. And criminals don't believe in the law. Utopia does not exist yet. In Heaven, maybe no guns. Hell same thing. But those don't work on the soul.

Yeah I care, but stuff happens.

I think this thread is an indicator that neither side will ever agree on how to solve the problem of mass shootings.
I think we should agree to disagree and move on, nothing achieved.:dead::dead::dead::shrug::shrug:

TomP, instead of stirring up shit, for a change, why don't you tell us about your car......do you have one?
