And now, Gary Cohn, Comrade Trump's Chief Economic Advisor, resigns. Wow! He lasted longer than I originally thought possible. He's had multiple issues with Comrade Trump, including previously drafting his resignation letter after Comrade Trump made his infamous "equivocation" or "there were bad people on both sides" speech between the Neo-Nazi's and protesters at Charlottesville.

Gary Cohn, Trump’s Adviser, Said to Have Drafted Resignation Letter After Charlottesville - The New York Times

BTW, FWIW, in Michael Wolff's book "Fire and Fury", Gary Cohn called our illegitimate president "dumb as $hit." That's a direct quote from the book.

It's a theme that keeps repeating itself.

For my friend Mr. Veek. Ignore the "source," look at the sources in it, and read the conclusions. Christopher Steele is a respected, credible source and much of what he has alleged has proven to be true.

Christopher Steele, the Man Behind the Trump Dossier | The New Yorker

Jeff,
Since we're friends, I read the piece you cited by Ms. Mayer, all 14,825 words of it. She was a familiar name as I had previously read some of her work.

Your article is clearly a rebuttal to the criminal referral of Mr. Steele by Mr. Grassley of the U.S. Senate and a refreshed catalogue for public consumption of all of the salacious misdeeds attributed to Mr.Trump (whether they related to his alleged Russian collusion or not). I had previously read her hit piece on the Koch brothers and I'm surprised Congressman Schiff didn't get to share the byline.

It did provide some insights I had not seen before. Those include the intriguing involvement of Senator McCain, the somewhat shaky mental state of Mr. Steel with among other things, anxieties over a libel lawsuit against him as a result of his dossier, accusations his company helped the Russian government hack into the Democratic Party’s internal e-mail system, fears of a prison sentence for his efforts and what the article calls "the lack of response from the F.B.I." to his findings.

A new insight for me is the serious thought that Mr. Steele may actually be a sincere man who himself was thoroughly played by the Russians. After all, your article is clear that "Steele’s specialty was gathering intelligence from informed sources, many of them Russian". In that regard, your articles gives mention to the linkage of Mr. Steele to Oleg Deripaska, the billionaire Russian industrialist who has been described as Putin’s favorite oligarch and that his source for the most salacious of the Trump accusations was described as “a former top-level Russian intelligence officer still active inside the Kremlin".

I also wonder what your author meant when with such careful word choice, "He left (the British intelligence service) in good standing, but his exit was hastened". Was this a nice way to say he was fired? When she said, "… (Congressman) Nunes, in his memo, claimed that Steele was “suspended and then terminated” as a source (for the F.B.I.). In reality, the break was mutual, precipitated by Steele’s act of conscience”. Reminds me of the comedy routine where the terminated employee shouts at his boss, “You can’t fire me because I quit!”. Apparently he didn’t get two weeks’ notice, severance or his expenses reimbursed but I guess as a lovely parting gift, he gets to keep the $160K he was paid by the campaign of Mrs. Clinton. His book advance will not doubt be worth $millions though.
As an aside, I also found it amusing when she actually used the terms "nonpartisan" and "the Washington Post" in the same sentence.

Ultimately, it comes down to whether Mr. Steele’s dossier on behalf of the Democratic National Committee is true or not. If Mr. Trump unlawfully colluded with Russia or others or not. Time will tell.

As for the veracity of Mr. Steele's dossier, I would refer you the Washington Post:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...ys-and-what-it-doesnt/?utm_term=.94f74fba37b3

While you're perusing the article above bear in mind:
• “Only documented and verified information” may be used in Department of Justice surveillance applications, according to FBI internal guidelines.
• The FBI relied on an unverified dossier of opposition research against President Donald Trump to apply for a warrant, according to House Republicans.
• “Only documented and verified information may be used to support FBI applications [FISA] to the court [FISC],” according to the guidelines.

As for a summary response to your article from the “New Yorker” I present the “Daily Caller”.

6 Revelations In That Steele Puff Piece | The Daily Caller

As a friend, I’m sure you’ll carefully read both articles before you respond. Just so you know, together they are a fraction of the article I slogged through for you by Ms. Mayer.

Have a tip top day!

Here's are facts.

Flynn, Papadopolous, Gates, the Dutch Lawyer have been convicted of felonies. Manafort has been indicted, but eventually will be convicted of many felonies. And 13 Russians and 3 Russian companies have been indicted by Mueller and yesterday's news is that a person by the name of George Nader is now cooperating with the Mueller probe:

George Nader: 'Man of mystery' cooperates with Mueller in Russia probe - CNNPolitics

The Steele Dossier must have contained some real cold hard facts, because it helped lead investigators to get a FISA warrant and has also helped Mueller's Russia investigation. And I don't think the Steele Dossier has been released to public, so we the public cannot read it. But I'd like to.

But facts are facts. The Mueller probe is ongoing and continues to get guilty pleas and indictments.

Lastly, we never heard this kind of story during the Obama years: "Porn star sues President."

This thread makes very little sense to people not in the USA.

Fact
Trump won the election and became President
Fact
The Left did not like this and are bellyaching a lot about him being in the position as if the world is about to end
Fact
Previously Obama was in this office
Fact
the Right did not like this and complained but generally got on with life
Fact
Nothing said on this thread will make any difference to the above, just noise.

Come back Jim I liked your debates!

Ian

Yesterday, Comrade Trump said at the press conference that there's no chaos, but the facts are:

1. Gary Cohn, his Chief Economic Advisor resigned.
2. Stormy Daniels, porn star, is suing him.
3. Ivanka and Jared are under investigation for criminal conduct.
4. Hope Hicks quits.
5. Session and Comrade Trump are arguing in public.
6. Trade Wars
7. Special Counsel Mueller is still kicking a$$ and taking names.
8. Sam Nunberg, a former Comrade Trump advisor, goes nuts on cable TV news.
9. KellyAnne Conway, a senior advisor to Comrade Trump, violated the Hatch Act, not once, but twice.

However, best of all, the Democrats appear to be a good position to take over both the Senate and House of Representatives. Heck, even Texas may turn Blue in 2018.

Ian, that is about as accurate an assessment can be. It never ends with some people. The only explanation I can come up with is there many many extremely unhappy people in this world who thrive on being unhappy. The unfortunate aspect is these people piss all over what would otherwise be a great auto forum and group.

Yep, he sure did and he colluded and conspired with the Russian government to win it. He's going to be impeached. You can read the tea leaves, Mueller has the evidence and you can see where the investigation is headed.

Rod,

When someone says to you "how dumb can you be?" It is not a challenge

Then the odds makers at Bovada, who are in the business of making money, must be dumb too, since they're taking bets on Comrade Trump finishing his 1st term, which is 50/50. Even money, that sounds bad.

Impeachment by the House of Representatives is -200, which means you bet $200 to win $100. That sounds bad.

But the good news is that at +3,250, the Senate is unlikely to convict him, since you can $100 to win $3,250.

This news just in. Hey, even the Jerry Brown, the California Governor, agrees with me. Mueller is closing in.

Jerry Brown taunts Sessions, Trump: 'Mueller is closing in' - CNNPolitics

'Special counsel Robert "Mueller is closing in. There are more indictments to come. So obviously the attorney general has found it hard to be just a normal attorney general. He's been caught up in the whirlwind," Brown added.'

I'm not a betting person, but betting $100 to win $3,250 seems like a pretty good bet to me at the moment.

keep drinking the cool aid.. same old broken record. can't wait to hear what you have to say when Trump wins the next election... Mueller is wasting our money.. Stay tuned

Mueller's investigation is the best spent government money since the Louisiana Purchase.

Your "facts," really are just your opinions, or what KellyAnne Conway popularized as "alternative facts."

The right belly-ached about Obama plenty. And Obama's headlines never included "Porn Star Sues President."

In my world, you know the real world, facts are guilty pleas and indictments. And we have those. In my opinion, more guilty pleas and indictments are coming. But any logical thinker would say more guilty pleas and indictments are coming, because the case against Comrade Trump, his family and his associates is unfolding before the public in a very slow and methodical way.

But sometimes you get a person like Kyrie Irving, of the Boston Celtics, who thinks the world is flat. Just no way to convince them otherwise. And that's the Sean Hannity's of the world.
