    Plate location

Same thing as this side of the pond. Many people finds the front plate on such exotics vehicles to be "optional"! ;) Certainly has been on my old mini and on many of the 7 replicas I know of. Over here, if the police do get stroppy you just get a pink bit of paper requiring you to get it sorted...

What's this stuff in my oil filler cap?

Not sure how hot it gets where you are, but here in Blightly, this is a fairly common(ish) thing. It's just condensation emulsifying the oil inside the cap, nowt to worry about really. As said, running the engine (or more importanly the oil) a little hotter should help remove this, although if...

4 bbl Carb for Lola Motor

Ron, if you're after a simple progressive linkage have a look at the linkage on the HF seires of SU carbs. These should all have a cam on the throttle which gives a nice progressive opening. It's nice and simple to remove and use elsewhere too. I've currently got one on the IDA on my classic...

    Welding Collectors?

Another option that I've seen used here in the uk is to weld tabs on to either side of the point and use stiff springs to hold it all in place and seal. Kind of like the systems you see on some bike exhausts.

    Fuel pipe size

The other thing to remember is that the fuel pumps are very rarely working flat out. Just think how hard you'd hve to drive to use all of the capacity of a 70 g/h pump! 70 g/h is a whole lot of fuel! Many pumps only really run slowly/occasionaly to top up the float chambers. I've got a classic...

    TWM air box

I'm not a fan of doing that either. Whiklst they look nic, those mesh "filters" do a very good job of restricting air flow into the stacks. And they don't reallt filter anything anyways. It's the much finer stuff, such as dust and similar sized stuff that does for an engine. Yes, a stone will do...

    TWM air box

A vacuum formed one in persex or similar could be made to look better, cost much much less and let you show off. I personally wouldn't run any engine without a filter, regardless of what it is. It's just asking for trouble. Also, the weave on the side looks blXXdy awful, and I would expect...

    Of use to anyone?

Hi all, Since many seem to have problems sourcing transaxles, I thought this may be of use. NOrt sure weaht it's rated at or what postage across the pond would be, but all the same it may be of use. eBay.co.uk: FERRARI 360 GEARBOX / TRANSMISSION (item 110050267758 end time 10-Nov-06 08:01:29 GMT)

Making your own chassis - unique to GT40s?

The same is true for 7's. You can buy a Caterham, as one of the most known manufacturers and get a near completet kit for £12,000ish. Or you can build your own for £2,000. Most do it less for the saving in money nad more to answer the question "Did you build that?" with the something like "yes...

Making your own chassis - unique to GT40s?

Having a vague grounding in lotus 7 type cars, I can say ,many of the owners build there own chassis and suspesion parts from scratch. Don't know if you're aware of a book by Ron Champion, "Build you own sports car for £250"? It certainly sparked a craze in the uk. See Locostbuilders.co.uk for...

    Howdo one and all.

Just thought I'd best become a member having been lurking on here for a while. I originally came this way for some help/advice on transaxles for a GT type project, but have been looking too closer at the Lolas and Can Am type cars, and may have just chagned my mind about the shell. I currently...
