    Anyone know this car?

I dont know the serial #. It doesnt appear to be listed on the ad. I called the dealership, but had to leave a message. What were the problems with pre-100 CAV cars?

    Anyone know this car?

I did notice that. I actually find myself really liking the original RHD/RHS layout. However, having never driven a RHD car, I am hesitant. I tried to think of all the ways it might be a drawback. Drive-thrus/toll-booths had come to mind. I hadnt considered passing... that would be scary...

    GT40 Ownership suprises

That would be a crappy surprise. I dated a girl in high school that drove a C4 corvette. Like most C4s, it had a targa top. Imagine my "surprise" when we were on the interstate and the car rapidly went from coupe to convertible... and then the cars behind us attempted to dodge the flying...

    GT40 Ownership suprises

Congratulations, you have just insured that i get no work done today as I dream about actually driving a GT40. That is an extremely generous offer. I am very grateful. That said, how about we just plan on me looking at the car first. After we meet, if you feel comfortable, we can discuss a...

    GT40 Ownership suprises

No offense taken. Just some background on me: I crewed for a Super Stock C drag car all through high school. I regularly autocrossed a Viper ACR in college and I have been campaigning a shifter kart for the last 5 years or so. I am currently restoring a vintage race bike, so I can turn a...

    GT40 Ownership suprises

Edit: sorry about misspelling "surprise" in the title. What are all of the things a potential GT40 owner may NOT have thought about before he/she takes the plunge? By that I mean (but not limited to): (1) How do you insure a GT40 replica? (2) What does it cost to insure a GT40 replica...

    RCR vs. SPF vs. CAV

No... not yet at least :) Speaking of which, if you do have a potentially inflamatory opinion that you would rather not share in public, feel free to PM me. I want to know the good the bad and the ugly for all of my GT40 options. Im just trying to figure out exactly what I want. It seems...

    GT40 vs ball

Agreed. Either way, as long as you keep a diligent watch for inordinately large ball bearings while driving your GT40, you should be fine.

Hey Mike. I would love to see the car. Say when, and I will bring beer/lunch/any payment necessary (as well as a towel to clean up my inevitable drool). Also, if you ever need a hand working on the car, I would be grateful for the chance to help and learn about GT40s in the process...

    RCR vs. SPF vs. CAV

Thanks for the feed back, keep it coming. Of course, each post will likely illicit more questions from me (apologies for my ignorance in these matters). Do the RCR/CAV cars benefit significantly from straying from the more original SPF approach? I like the originality factor of the SPF; that...

    RCR vs. SPF vs. CAV

Hi all. I am new to the site and have a question that may have been asked before--but I couldnt find a thread that included the RCR cars (I did read the SPF v. CAV thread and it was a great wealth of knowledge). I want to purchase a GT40 "replica" in the future and joined this site to learn...

Nice to E-meet you. I didnt know there were any other SPF GT40s (aside from Mike's) in the area. I do know Mike. He is a really nice guy and has been adding fuel to my car addiction ever since I was a kid (even if he doesnt know it). I first met him when I was about 16. I was working at the...

    Newbie from Arkansas

Hi all, My name is a TJ Fowler and I just joined. I am a long time "car-guy" and currently work as an attorney in Little Rock, Arkansas. I have been in love with GT40s since I first sat in one when I was 16 years old. The car was actually a pre-production prototype from Ford and had a 289...
