Audi 012 transaxle shifter

Hi guys

I am spec'ing up a hopefully future purchase and become a long awaited owner. I have a Audi transaxle that I aquired for very reasonable money, and would like to know how the shift mechanism works? Does anybody have any photos of this and is it either solid rod or a cable system. Does anyone have an opinion on which is best also?

Thanks

Steve,

The 012 transaxle has the shift selector shaft pointing towards the back on the right side. For mid-engined applications, it seems most are simply using a Porsche Boxster linkage and cable set up including the cabin shifter. The early 5 speed Boxster uses the same Audi model 012 transaxle, so the linkage will interchange.

The attached photos are of a Porsche 914 swap utilizing the Boxster trans and shifter. Notice the cables that operate the linkage on the trans. Hope this helps.

Andy
