C302 vs c302b's

C302 vs c302b\'s

Looking for advice. Have abandoned my yates heads notion and have located 2 sets of new heads for my 8.2" deck 360" engine.
first set are new C302 heads---bare and unported--as they arrived from Ford 20 years ago...$1300.
second set are new C302B heads. Matched, ported, with stainless valves and a correct but not port matched intake....$4000.
The car will be street driven 90% of the time. Any insight is appreciated.

Re: C302 vs c302b\'s

Three letters for you AFR. C302's aka Allen Root heads, early FMS heads I have on my car now, along with the C302 intake and A315 cam, this was the package FMS sold back in '89 or so. Great power from 4000 up to 6500, but no botoom or lower mid range at all. $1300 that will buy factory CNC ported AFR 165's, $1500 gets you comp ported 165's, a far better head than the older tech C302's. As for 4K for the other I'd rather have an A4 block (@ $1500) and a complete set of Webers for another $2500. just my .02
