CAV Steering rack bushing

Hi all,

The bushing that holds the steering rack pinion 'shaft' at the outer end, has perished. That means there's quite a bit of slop, both unsafe and not helping the steering feeling.

I've been told by CAV that this was a cortina 1977 'thin tube' steering rack, and i'm hoping to source the replacement bushings somewhere. At the moment i'm having a heard time finding any information however. Does anyone have any pointers?

thanks, Jasper

sorry, no.. i'll look for a picture. its the plastic bushing inside the steering rack, which guides the rack-bar left and right.

Number '5' on below drawing. This is not necessarily the CAV rack by the way. just a good drawing I found.
The pictures attached show a disintegrated bushing similar to mine.

Sorry Jasper, I didn't read your post correctly, my fault. Sounds like Ford 6103650.
