With the original Dzus fasteners you need to carry a large screwdriver, coin, or tool like this: Moroso : Category Display to open and close the front lid.
An alternative is to replace the "coin operated" fastener with a wing-head version, and Pegasus has the exact part: https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails3.asp?utm_expid=10520551-6&RecID=767&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pegasusautoracing.com%2Fkeywordsearch.asp
The fasteners are retained by small metric socket-head screws requiring a 2 mm hex key. There are small washers on the nut side that are very easy to lose.
Also, the body-side receptacle spring on the LHS is oriented such that when the lid is closed and latched the LHS "wing" is oriented "cross-wind". To fix that you will need to rotate the body-side spring 90 degrees which will required un-riveting the original and re-riveting it either alone or with a shortened version of the exisiting mounting plate. I haven't done that part yet.
