G86/20 Boxster 6 speed looking for info

The G86/20 has the exact same gear ratios as the G96, but the diff is "swapped around" such that you don't have to run the gearbox upside down.
It seems that it is made from the same internals as the G96. Surly, the G86/20 is preferable for building a mid-engine kit car as compared to the G96 as it doesnt have to be driven upside-down?
