Green GT40 of Peter Sutcliffe

I think the color could be Ivy-green...
that also fits when the color and car came out and looks like it on other Fords
out 1966 when the dark green colors came>>

Hi All,

As this car was supplied in component form, I'm not sure if it was painted by F.A.V or later during the actual assembly operation. However in the Motorsport magazine article it states that Peter assembled the car in a week in a lock up near F.A.V. That timescale would suggest that he received the car already painted.
I think the F.A.V records state 'metalic green' also, but could they of been completed or ammended after Peter built the car & F.A.V inspected it ?

I do not know if it is Ivy Green now.

It may not even be a standard paint colour now but may well of been tinted / adjusted by the restorers to best match the original finish evidence they found on the car.

I do not think that it would of been a Ford USA colour (color!) originally.
Ford of Britain, U.S.A, Germany etc all had their own colour ranges.

I can't think of a 1960's Ford of Britain colour anything like this car, but I would suspect it came from a UK paint supplier.

Sorry I can't help, Steve.
