So they built one 1029 of which four survive? Interesting.
The car seen at Monterey this year is the one restored by Bob Ash.For many years there has been a claimant to be 1029 in the USA so I'm guessing this could be it - see post 4 etc - however this does resemble the SPF seen in Europe
Just for interest the car in Dave Collins post with the registration 1MUF was at the Donnington Historic event this weekend. It was being loaded into it's trailer after damaging the gearbox in the event. Steve
The closest to being the true 1029?The car seen at Monterey this year is the one restored by Bob Ash.
Ok trying to pass off a SPF as 1029 at Silverstone Classic is so lame. After looking at the pictures for a minute or two you can tell it's a SPF ( and there is nothing wrong with building a tribute car, continuation, or a clone ) but tell the real story. If you are going to pass a SPF car off as an original you would be better off to just build a GelscoeInterestingly there was another car with a 1029 chassis plate at the Silverstone Classic this past weekend. This one was finished in the silver with red/white/blue stripes worn by 1029 when it was run into by XGT-2 at Le Mans in 1966 and written off.
regardless this car in stunning
Ryangood looking rooster.
