He may be a perfect example of "Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it!"

Rod, I think Trump really believes that by catering to the Russians in general, and Putin in particular, that it will ingratiate him to the Russians and that he may be able to influence their actions. If he butts heads with them, it won't increase their motivation to cooperate.

I didn't say I think Trump's right...Putin is a snake, a spider...a predator who has "empty eyes" because he has no soul. What is that old saying...something like "Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer"? Trump may be trying to do that, but he's' just barking up the wrong tree, IMHO.

...that would make this just one more in a long line of failures to use good judgement. Russia may have something on Trump, I don't know, but it wouldn't be unlike them to have hidden cameras all over the place when Trump goes to Russia (and did in the past), so who knows what they may have? Video of the golden showers? Wouldn't Melania love to get hold of those!

Cheers!

Doug

So, basically, Comrade Trump has pissed off and butted heads with the PM's of major economies in the UK, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Germany, the EU, etc., but wants to please and ingratiate himself to Putin, who's economy is in terrible shape and needs our help more than we need Putin's?

Doug, I gotta say, that's not a widely held view of why Trump sucks up to Putin. I think it's naive.

Have you heard the term "kompromat"? In short it means compromising material or damaging information about a politician or other public figure used to create negative publicity, for blackmail, or for ensuring loyalty.

Frankly, I view Trumps call to Putin in much the same way I view two opposing teams congratulating each other after the match. The losers more than likely don’t really feel elated to congratulate the winners and the winners more than likely know that the jesture is empty.
But. It’s something that is done.
I honestly feel that Obama’s bowing before Saudi Royals as more negative..
Both were speaking on behalf of the United States. Both of them wrong.

I could buy your equivocation of Obama bowing before the Saudi Royals and Trump's congratulatory phone call, BUT, for the fact that Putin and Russia interfered with our 2016 elections, is already interfering with our 2018 elections, just cyberattacked our national power grid and also poisoned some 20+ people in the UK.

He should have read the message "DO NOT CONGRATULATE" THE DICTATOR. And stuck with the script. He's really a "low IQ" person.

He's really a "low IQ" person.

For 35 years I tested intelligence in the public schools. Believe me, there are many more than just one form of intelligence! A lot of individuals have very unusual skills that are just perplexing (for example, some individuals with autism can look at a building and then retire to a different location and create an accurate drawing of that building, down to the number of bricks as well as the mortar lines). Not all of them have the kind of intelligence we view as normal, but there are cognitive processes involved in all forms of intelligence.

Examples of common "Intelligences":

Verbal Intelligence
Performance Intelligence (non-verbal, all visual)
Simultaneous Intelligence
Sequential Intelligence

a few other examples of other more commonly recognized intelligence forms:
"Musical" (have you ever known anyone who could pick up an unfamiliar instrument for the first time and easily get it to create music?)
"Culinary" (ever known someone who instinctively knew what ingredients to put together?)
"Botanical" Ever seen anyone who could determine how to grow a plant just by touching it?)

I really think that our POTUS may have some sort of autistic features...the self-absorbtion is a key feature, as well as a very regimented, non-traditional style of communication and socialization. Ever heard anyone else who expressed and really believed that it was OK for a man to just walk up to a beauty contestant and put his fingers between her legs? That's a sign of social self-absorbtion because Trump doesn't see anything wrong with it.

On the other hand, Trump does have many of those "savant" characteristics (like the example of the individual who could draw buildings from memory). He may well instinctively understand financial issues...most savants have quite significant knowledge of an issue, and can be very accomplished at solitary tasks...they just don't know how to share it with others. Trump knows a lot about finances (although with all the financial legal issues he faces he might not be as accomplished at that as some people...me included...give him credit for).

He's a very "odd" President...some like that unconventionality, some of us find it disturbing. I'd probably fall in the last group, as I seem to have certain standards/expectations for our political leadership and I don't seem to see him honoring those expectations.

Others, of course, will cherish each and every one of those "disturbing" actions. To each his own.

Just don't misinterpret a lot of his actions as "low IQ". They're intentional.

Cheers!

Doug

Do we know - for sure - that there was no election meddling in previous elections?
Do we think for one minute that Fake News in regard to candidates started with the last election?

Two things can be equally true. His actions can be intentional and he can also have "low IQ."

But don't go just by my word, several people in his admininstration have called him an idiot, moron, dumb as $hit, etc. Gary Cohn, H.R. McMaster, Rex Tillerson have all had their names attributed to these various insults of Trump.

Of course there was. The Soviets tried to impact our elections, and probably did, for years.

Here's the difference though. In the past, both parties found that completely unacceptable. Neither would knowingly take aid or seek aid from someone like Putin.

Here, the Republican Party seems intent on giving Trump and Bannon and Cambridge Analytica a pass for doing so.

Let me ask a question that should be EASY for any American to answer:

I would prefer that my candidate win the election over the opposing party's candidate even if my candidate knowingly sought and received material aid from a dangerous foreign power.

Yes or no.

It's really that simple. If your answer is Yes, well, the founding fathers would have a name for you that started with a "T" and ended with an "R."

Let the guy do his job....... For some it will be a 7 more long years....

His job is apparently wake at 6, watch Fox, tweet insults to other politicians, countries and the intelligence community until 11 finish "the hair" and head to the Oval Office.

Do bigly phone calls, tehn lunch.

Afternoon, make decisions without consulting advisors like "start trade war." More tweets.

Cheesburgers and bed, OR pornstars and hush money after hours.

Helluva of job.

You forgot:

“Meet with lawyers:

A. Discuss Stormy Daniels, porn star, lawsuit
B. Discuss Apprentice contestant lawsuit
C. Discuss Playboy Playmate lawsuit
D. Discuss Impeachmemt 2019”

I must be psychic.

Uh, well, they'll be one less lawyer in the room today (John Dowd quit) when Comrade Trump meets with his legal team to discuss all the litigation against him.

Hi rod,

just wondering, who would be your pick for the perfect president.. You have nothing but negative to say about the current one..

How about ANYONE that listens to pretty much any economist and doesn't start trade wars, which sends the Dow 30 down 724 points?

Perfection isn't required, but at least a president who hasn't had a labotomy like Comrade Trump. How about someone who hasn't committed treason and made sex tapes with porn stars? How about someone who might want to tell Putin to stop poisoning people in other countries and defends out allies?

Comrade Trump is the biggest mistake in history. And it boggles my mind how anyone can support the chimpanzee.
