So, Fechter, you left out Father Coughlin and Al Sharpton. What happened? And what about Westbrook Pegler? Did you forget him? Another belligerent right-wing hatemonger that you've forgotten to lionize.

Bob, Limbaugh, Beck and Breitbart thrive because there are a lot of people out there who are too damn lazy to do their own thinking and want others to do it for them. That's you, Bob. It always amazes me that people who would be disgusted at the idea of swallowing a cheeseburger that someone else had already chewed are perfectly willing to swallow ideas that someone else has not only chewed but mixed with excrement. I guess it points up the difference between actual swallowing and metaphorical swallowing. You need a taste bud transplant into a more central neurological location.

“If you are taught bitterness and anger, then you will believe you are a victim. You will feel aggrieved and the twin brother of aggrievment is entitlement. So now you think you are owed something and you don't have to work for it and now you're on a really bad road to nowhere because there are people who will play to that sense of victimhood, aggreivement and entitlement, and you still won't have a job.” ~ Condaleeza Rice

Gentlemen,

I've read all the interesting new postings on what this site is really for.
So i thought i'd see what's going on in the depths of certain parts of The Paddock. Same old story , i'm sorry to say. Nothing changes.
One observation i'd like to make though. Seems to be a lot of prejudice regarding how people should lead their lives. Very anti any alternative life style.
Or are these people co opting Clinton's " but i didn't inhale " maxim ?
Life and art would be a whole lot poorer without so called alcoholics and drug takers. Little in the way of good music, philosophy, films, poetry, inventions, medicine etc.
Hope this doesn't divert the thread,

Andrew Breitbart is dead; he leaves a wife and four children. By all accounts he was a loving father that treasured his sons. Having grown up with one parent, I am saddened for them. He rightfully exposed ACORN but was recklessly stupid with Shirley Sherrod. I didn't like a lot of what he did but let's not get too pious here. The left has no standing as to civility when last week Larry Doyle, a Huffington Post contributor, published a thoroughly hate filled anti-Catholic rage, Bill Maher calls Sarah Palin a "c*nt" and Michelle Bachmann a "dumb tw*t". Don't forget, "F*** … D*mned Joe the … D*mned Motherf*cking plumber! I want Motherf*cking Joe the plumber dead." — Liberal talk show host Charles Karel Bouley on the air. "If I got (Condi Rice) a— on camera, I would put my Mars Air Jordans so far up her butt that the Mayo Clinic would have to remove them." — Spike Lee. And of course recently a liberal member of congress has recently said, "...And as far as I’m concerned — the tea party can go straight to hell.” Needless to say I could fill the page with rants from the likes of Ed Schultz and Keith Olbermann.
There is plenty of vitriol to go around and no political persuasion is in a position with the high ground on this. Civility is unlikely to return until it is condemned everywhere.

Yeah, I think that was the point Veek. No one here thinks anyone on the "left" is a "hero" or a "great man" for doing and saying any of that.

Our wonderful friend Mr. Fechter seems to think Breitbart is a hero for doing the same.

You disagree right? No one wants Breitbart dead, but you agree he was part of the problem, not the solution right?

Damn, I wish I had said that. Well done. Brevity is, indeed the soul of wit. That is exactly what I was trying to point out. Hate speech is worthy of condemnation regardless of where it comes from. And people who promote hate speech are not heroes.

Slightly off topic, but only slightly: the Israelis had a lengthy public discussion of all this when their Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin, was assassinated. Their point was that the daily rhetoric had become so inflammatory that it had led to the murder of a head of state. We have not had that happen, thank God, but we did have the Arizona shootings and murders. We have become a culture where is is fashionable and expected to demonize your opposition for their political beliefs. Until we decide, as a group, to walk away from that kind of attitude and behavior, we are not going to be living in a civilized country.

Maybe we could start on this forum? Just a thought.

I agree. Let's all agree to roundly reject posters who start threads "in your face, comrade" and then claim that one of the leaders of the anti-civility movement is a hero.

All on board with that?

Yes,

I agree. Veek made a good point, this is not just a conservative thing, both sides are guilty of this. Oberman, Maddow and the ones on the left are no better than Limbaugh, Beck or Breitbart.

None of them are "heros", none of them are "patriots" none of them are "great Americans". No matter what side there propaganda represents.

I condemn all of them!

Geez Jim, Are they putting something in the water up there? I like this side of you.

+1. Amen. Please can we have a bit more civility and considered thought in the mix?

The fact of the matter is that if you're a talk show host, you generally get more eyeballs/eardrums by way of inflammatory statements digested by the lowest common denominator as "entertainment" than by sharing nuggets of wisdom Ghandi-style in a more civilized manner. It's just the way people are, hungry for something entertaining rather than smart or wise. The Becks and Limbaughs are just entertainment for a prejudicial crowd, they have as much to do with wise and considered thought as a fart in church does to a Sunday sermon.

I haven't read LB's posts, but I can't believe that he really believes Breitbart is a great American or anything else that could be described as "Great" and remain a compliment.

He's trolling, guys, plain and simple.

+1 on believing that regardless of which side is guilty (and both ARE), deceit and dishonesty are reprehensible regardless of the source.

We should look at any politician who lies as an individual lacking in integrity How many admired Clinton when he tried to weasel out of answering the questions before congress? If it had been me, I'd have simply asserted that it was a private "affair" (pun unintended, but enjoyable) and therefore had refused to answer the questions at all.

To believe that LB would admire Breitbart and his tactics would lead one to believe that LB would admire those on the forum whom he refers to as "...turds in the punchbowl".....which is it, Mr. Fechter?

As for Limbaugh, he's not a politician, has never held a political office, has made his living by leading those who do not possess the power of acute observation around by rings in their noses, using humor (???) as a bait. Beck is in the same boat. Neither is qualified to have any more than a political "opinion"...as we say, opinions are like noses (to be kind), we all have them....ergo, each of us who posts here on this forum is equally qualified as is Mr. Limbaugh or Mr. Beck to preach their philosophy of dishonesty.

The difference is that we (well, most of us) don't....while Limbaugh, Beck, and certainly LB do.

I"m on board with Jeff's suggestion....the only way we can demonstrate that we soundly reject the philosophy forwarded by the originators of threads such as "In your face, Comrade" is to refuse to even recognize the existence of the thread by posting.

I soundly recommend (again) that we all put LB on "ignore" and see how long it takes him to disappear, retreating back into his lair of thugs and morons and liars.

Cheers!

Hmmm. Not really what I had in mind. What I meant was it would be good if we could start being civil to each other on this forum and debate things without the name calling. Already some of you have used my comment to take a swipe at Lonesome. Seems I am flogging a dead horse.:dead::dead::dead:

There's always that liberal "superiority," "made his living by leading those who do not possess the power of acute observation around by rings in their noses, using humor (???) as a bait."

Really, how "acute" are all of you liberals?

Honestly, step out of your "measly littler world"~Jimi Hendrix, and look at yourself. The moment "99%" floated to the top of the punch bowl it became the liberal mantra.

The Right has been putting up with your arrogance for seventy years, and you don't much like the payback, do you.

Hey Bob you wouldn't be talking about the 99% in post #13 would you..haha I was wondering if any of our liberal truth hawks were gonna say anything other than blow sunshine at it.... I wasn't disappointed...
Also Bob do you know if there's any way of blocking certain people from participating in a thread....hehehe

No one is taking a personal swipe at Bob. Well, I'm not.

I'm just saying that a thread called "In your face, comrade" is exactly the kind of thing you should be opposed to right, given your post above?

It appears that Craig and Mr Fechter are OK with being misslead and lied to. These propaganda passers only appeal to very gulable folks. It appears that Craig and Mr Fechter are incredably gullable, happy getting only one side of a story.

They think that Limbaugh, Obermen, Beck, Maddow and Breitbart, are "heros, patriots and great Americans". Because they are brave enough to tell it like they wish it was.

I say that these folks are just about as far from heros as you can get.

They have the nerve to place those scumbags alongside real heros!

*************

Now we have all seen this before, they will now say that the "Liberal, main stream Media" has been doing this for years.

I will then ask for examples of ABC, CBS, NBC, purposly airing criminally eddited videos, docktored charts and outright lies.

As always they will either say "there are lots of them, but I just do not have time", or they Will bring up Dan Rather from almost 10 years ago, or more likely, they will change the subject and make personal attacks.

So Craig, & Mr Fechter, are Oberman and Maddow heros and patriots, or do you draw the line, only liars you agree with are heros?

McCarthy, Limbaugh, Beck, and Breitbart, all men who have brought to light things the establishment media wouldn't touch.

Rather than address the accusations, destroy the man. It worked on McCarthy, but there are too many other resources than the newspapers/network news to get the whole picture now. Limbaugh, Beck, and Breitbart are thriving because they have a service millions of people value.

The newspapers/network news are dying, no change in tactics is going to save them. People have become too aware of the facts.

Mr Fechter and Craig,

It appears that another of your "Great American heros" has shown just what kind of mean spirited hate mongers they really are.

A few days ago, a Georgetown University law student Miss Fluke was commenting that she agrees with Persident Obama's plan to include brith controll in health care.

After hearing Miss Flukes comments The great "HERO" of the right Mr Limbauth then said that"

"THAT MAKES HER A SLUT, RIGHT?"

"IT MAKES HER A PROSTITUTE, SHE WANTS TO BE PAID TO HAVE SEX"

"SHE IS HAVING SO MUCH SEX SHE CANT AFFORD CONTRACEPTION"

"SHE WANTS YOU AND ME, THE TAXPAYERS TO PAY HER TO HAVE SEX!"

*********

He made these comments because she had the nerve to think that birth control should be covered by health insurance!

Apparently several advertisers including AOL have pulled their spots and others are reviwing their choices.

So Craig, So Mr Fechter, your "Great American", your "hero" shows just what kind of person he rally is.

But wait, there is more.........

******

Rush Limbaugh issued an apology today for calling Sandra Fluke a prostitute and a slut after she testified before Congress on women's health care.

Remember, this "apology" only occurs after three more days of Limbaugh slut shaming Ms. Fluke, insulting her parents and saying that Fluke should make a ****pornographic movie for his titillation****.

On the fourth day, after a public outcry and the loss of at least six national sponsorships, Mr. Limbaugh now regrets his choice of words. This was too little, way too late. Especially since Mr. Limbaugh has a long history of offensive and vulgar comments.

*****

So your hero was OK with these comments for 4 days, it is only after he lost 6 sponsors that he decided that he "regrets his choice of words". What a scum bag!!!!!!!
