Here is a link to a car that I came across that has something that I havn't seen before. It appears to be some kind of cable accuated shifter for the ZF 5 speed. I wonder if the shifting would be faster as you still need to use the clutch.

I have been considering the Mastershift for my Ultima. With a clutch position sensor the shifter electronics is supposed to allow for faster shifting. You can stack shifts, until you depress the clutch too.

Would anyone put this on their car? I thought this to be cool for the GT40, but now, having second thoughts.

I've seen this setup running in "constant shifting" mode on a transmission on a bench at shows. It didn't look any faster than human shifting to me. But it is fun to watch, and the clutch switch integration is clever. ~$3,000 - $4,000. The also have a "bump" shifter lever if you don't like their paddles.

I've thought about it but to me it's more of a gimmick than an improvement.

Gary Cheney installed one on his GTM and I believe he ended up removing it after it destroyed the Porsche Gearbox..

Ouch. I will stick with the ol stick thank you. It appears to be more of a gimmic than a real advantage. Thanks for the input and the link to their web site.
