Oh SNAP!!! Looks like the Kat is out of the bag!!!!

BTW...do you seriously believe it´s a coincident that the EPA announcement had been made at a time when VW launched it´s new Passat which was said to have the potential of enhancing VW´s market share in the US?

Matthias Müller?
All a bit incestuous I think.
Yes we know the Porsche family have considerable interest in VW but the new head honcho should have been brought in from outside the VWTown area of influence and have nothing to do with any of the companies in VWAudi group.

Meanwhile - back in Washington - the EPA comes back under fire for their Sue-and-settle tactics...
Lawmakers take aim at EPA 'sue-and-settle' collusion | Fox News

No one's all that clean...

Back in 1982, Chevrolet offered the Corvette with the first electronic fuel injection system to hit that model car. It was a pig, but purportedly to environmental cleanliness standards.. The hot setup back in the day was to pull the chip out of your Corvette and replace it with the "Export" chip. IE, one that allowed the car to pollute more, but had greater power and driveability.. There was no restriction on the sale of these chips and due to the availability of them, it was easy to compare the code between the USA-50 chip and the export chip. Ahhh the dawn of a new industry... Tuners....

So we were bad and we're getting better. But are we?

I've also read reports of the EPA now taking a brand new look at all light and medium diesels across the board. With any (luck?), VW will find themselves in good company... Meanwhile the automakers are more than likely starting up their own internal processes to ensure the audits find nothing...
