Brian Hamilton

I'm on the verge of touching myself inappropriatel
Did you know that if you had $1B sitting in a room and spent $30k a day, you would not spend that in your entire lifetime (unless you lived more than 91 years). If it sat in an interest bearing account, you would practically never run out of money.

Just think about that.

At 90 years you'd have spent $986,190,000

At 91 years you'd have spent $1,008,090,000

*These were both figured at 23 leap years experienced per lifetime.*

Brian has way too much time on his hands...

I heard it once a loooooong time ago and it's stuck in my head ever since then. I think it was back when Pepsi was having their Pepsi Billion Dollar Sweepstakes where they were giving away $1B. I wanted to win that SOOOOOOO BAD!!!!! LOL

Brian, way Kool!
You could get the entire stable at RCR!

Dude, I'd have the coolest garage and private race track you'd ever seen. LOL

That's actually my life goal.

- 640 acres (One "Section" of land)
- Private Race Track
- Solar and Wind powered home, paddock, & lighting for the track
- Entire property planted in Coastal Hay so I can get an Ag. Exemption on the property taxes
- 2,500 - 3,000 sq. ft. home
- Stable of cars with a big fishbowl full of keys so I just reach in and grab keys at random to go play

A boy can dream can't he?

You wouldn't have been any better off now if you had stayed under British rule - not with our present government anyway.

Reminds me of the time someone offered Brian a six month contract!

He was offered a "total pay of $100 000" at the end of the 6 months

Or a weekly wage based on 1c, but doubled each week!

So which offer would you accept?

Al,

Just to keep you on your toes:

> Cigarette Tax - prior to 1790, taxes were levied on tobacco to help repay the
debt accrued by the Revolutionary War
> Corporate Income Tax - prior to 1913's 16th Amendment that brought out the
current concept of Federal Income Tax, business income was already taxed.
> Federal Income Tax (Fed)- 1861 the Federal government collected tax
on income to raise money due to the Civil War.
> Fishing License Tax - goes back to 1862 when license fees were
collected for almost all professions and trades
> Food License Tax - goes back to 1862 when license fees were
collected for almost all professions and trades
> Hunting License Tax - goes back to 1862 when license fees were
collected for almost all professions and trades
> Liquor Tax - existed prior to 1794 when a group of southern PA farmers
physically opposed collection of said tax, and President Washington sent in
Federal troops to suppress the Whiskey Rebellion
> Property Tax - in the late 1790s, the Federal government imposed direct
taxes on houses, slaves, estates, and land.
> Real Estate Tax - prior to 1790, taxes were levied on the sale of property at auctions to
help repay the debt accrued by the Revolutionary War
> Vehicle License Registration Tax - prior to 1790, taxes were levied on carriages to help
repay the debt accrued by the Revolutionary War

> STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
>
> Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago....
> and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.

Now, that, to me, is funny. People still insist the above items were not taxed 100
years ago. Sure, if the list was written in 1890 or eariler.

>
> We had absolutely no national debt...

We had national debts after the Revolutionary War, and the national debt after the Civil
War debt tremendous relatively speaking. From 1861 - 1871, the national debt rose by
3000%. In 1791, the national debt was $75 million. In 1871, it was over $2.4 billion.
And those numbers are 1791 and 1871 dollars, not dollars adjusted for inflation.

> How many zeros in a billion? This is too true to be funny.

Interesting question, when I went to school it was a million millions - now it seems to be less or is that another trans-Atlantic phenomenom ?

In the 'short scale', which is used predominantly by America, a billion is 1000 million:

1,000,000,000
So there are nine noughts. The 'long scale' is used in Europe, and in this system 'one billion' denotes a million million: 1,000,000,000,000

Bottom line is that I'm still confused...but that's my norm..

Ian - You're correct in your observations. It was sent to me and I just passed it on as political comment, just to show that we need to keep our politicians in constant observation, not as absolute fact. A.J.
