Keith !

It must be something top secret. You have asked that simple question several times, with no direct answer. The only answer I seen was what ever you are going to use, is not as good as what "we" use.

Hi Brian

Yes,.... I actually capulated in the end, and said OK I'll buy the secret sealant, that has not worked. I can feel an silicone solution coming on.

Hi Guys

I'm double-skinning parts of the car, what would you guys recommend for noise and/or heat insulation, I realise there are a few around, is there one better for heat, another better for noise, or a good combo for both?

Thanks in advance.

Keith

Hi Keith,
I'd look at getting some Kingspan insulation board from your local builders merchant, which should do a good job in this area

Andy

Strangely enough I was looking in Wickes the other day and saw 'celotex' board and thought that looked ideal, my only concerns being how suitable polyisocyanurate (PIR) was for automotive use.

Finally got round to doing some constructive work instead, since getting the car I have taken the tanks off, removed the CV adapters, removed some electrics, etc,...

I have put 20mm side repeaters above the front clips, 7" from the bottom edge. BTW it's my daughters that draw hearts on bricks.

I have also cut a hole in the rear for the third brake light, although not mechanically secured, I'm waiting for aluminium to be delivered.

Next I plan to fit sidelights and some panelling, am I doing this car in the right order?

Hi Keith
It’s good to have a little helper/hinderer for projects like this.
There’s no right order to build these cars, but don’t be in a rush to get the panels riveted on. Although mine nearing completion, I’ve a stack of panels still not fitted, as fitting out of everything is some much easier with them removed. However, you do have to consider the access needs when they are finally fitted

Andy

you can see the brake light hole has chipped around the edges, even though I had taped it for cutting and filing, what do you use for touching up/filling holes in fibreglass?

Keith

Hi Keith

Kniffing putty is great for small repairs on fibreglass, its better than body filler for the small touch up jobs as you dont have to mix it. Holts do some in a blue tube called cataloy kniffing putty. You can get it in halfords.

Got the Corsa C, power steering today (EPS, PAS, for benefit of searches), problem is, I did not get the input connectors nor any wires into the unit. I have searched online and any wiring diagrams I found refer to wire colours, which of course I don't have, so if anyone knows the connector pin-out I would be grateful.

Also got my CV adapters back from the workshop, how beautiful.

Today I cut the steering column out and started playing with the Corsa C EPAS. I noticed the ECU which sits on the underside of the column, is quite close to the pedals, especially the brake, so I plan to make a bracket and move the ECU to the top side of the column, same side as the servo motor, can anyone see a problem with this?

To me it's a no brainer, but that's from a standpoint of ignorance. I attach some pix with the ECU unbolted and just sitting in the proposed new position.

Well I've got a 'B' rather than a 'C' but here are my connectors to hopefully show the wiring colours.

Forgot to add. No issue with moving the ECU, the 'B' one isn't fitted to the column in the same way as the 'C'.

David thanks for the wiring colours,... the only issue I see with moving the ECU to the top is that it will limit the size of bracket I can put at the bottom end of the column, having said that there is no need to have the ECU on the column, I can move it within reason. I'm continuing to think about the rpm/speed pulses, I don't want a manual conrol knob.
