Anything, even a totally unqualified newbie, is better than what we have now.

An "unqualified newbie" is what we elected to the presidency in '08 (Obama himself said he wasn't qualified...a year or two before he tossed his hat into the ring) and look where that got us. But, I agree completely with your point.

The problem we run into when it comes to "throwing 'em all out" at election time is the fact that people almost always seem to believe the guy from their state isn't the problem - it's the guys from all the other states who are the problem (and therein lies the reason I'm all for term limits).

I'd be willing to bet it's no different in any other 'democracy' anywhere else 'round the globe.
