Gearbox drain plug

Blimey what a swine!
Tried all sorts to budge it but couldnt. Went to a Renault garage to borrow their tool but as I'd rounded off the plug! it didn't work. I guess its down to drilling and taping it out now. Marvelous!

Re: Gearbox drain plug

Hi Simon -

Before you attack the plug with a drill and tap -

Try heating the surrounding area and get a decent pair stilsons? (pipe wrench) on the rounded remains. This will normally shift even the most stubborn of drain plugs.

Re: Gearbox drain plug

If all else fails, try tack welding a hex nut on the end of the plug and use that to twist it loose.
