Thanks for all the advice and video. It is good. I've decided that relatively low stress V8s driven in the summer benefit more from frequent oil changes than an oil that can last a long time. The benefit of good synthetics is that they last a long time before breaking down and can handle higher temps without breaking down. Change frequently and keep oil temp reasonable and synthetics are no advantage. And in value terms a good mineral oil is better value if changed frequently.

Did some research into the Mocal sandwich plate thermostat and found that oil always flows through the cooler even when cold. When hot the thermostat opens and allows a higher flow rate through the cooler.
