They gave him his MBE last year, or was it OBE, about 20 years too late, in my opinion.
I had the honour of meeting him in 1997'ish, much more than a singer/songwriter. A friend was pre producing a few songs for him. We talked at length about Nick Drake, a personal and dear friend of his, it transpired. Check out both these singer/songwriters on Youtube.They are both rated in the top five of musicians that have ever lived, along with Dylan and Hendrix.
John, you dont know how much you will be missed. Legions of musicians have still to be born, who will see you as an innovative and shining light.
