As I understand it, the Army wants museums to exhibit many of the items but to do so they must meet certain security and display requirements. I was involved with the Army museum at Ft Bliss at one time and they discussed getting some items stored at Fort Belvoir (at the time they were in another facility) but that they couldn't afford the security and display case requirements for some of the items they wanted to borrow.
Given the nature of some of this stuff, I guess that's understandable.
 
One would hope that's not even close to being the case...

So Larry your highly optimistic hope that none of these items are snatched during wartime excursions is just that. I hate to piss on your fireworks Larry but I reckon there may just be a few trinkets from ill gotten gains in there. :)
