Oh my....
This is fantastic!
I can see the original "turbo" -wheels and everything seems to be correct.

Are these the famous J-11&J-12 under same chassis nr?

Or replicas???

Jukka

Jukka,

I assume these are both original cars, not
replicas. As far as chassis numbers, I don't have a clue, as no history was available.
The photo was taken at LimeRock,Connecticut
USA, in June of 2000, at the Shelby American
25th Anniversary get together.

They were both original cars.
One is George Stauffer's.
I forgot the other owner's name.

One was originally yellow, and the other
was originally red (I think).
There was a placard in front of both showing the chassis #. I'll look through my photos.

By the way...I see that Exoto is now coming out with a 1/10 scale Mark IV.
(Only $ 600 USD!!!)

FYI www.mecanicimport.com has a MKIV replica for
sale. It looks pretty sharp.Anybody know whose kit this might be?
They also have an original as well as a few
replica MK1's. No prices or detailed info on
the site. They are located somewhere in Belgium.

Bill,

Yes indeed,

There are several GT 40´s for sale, check out www.mecanicimport.com

What comes to Mk IV, it was never replicated. body is pretty good, but chassis is poor. It carries Chevy 327 engine.

The real one is claimed to be Chassis nr. 111.
It is really cheap. Quote from e-mail address. Chassis 111 was originally targa, and destroyed and disappeared.

Chris,

I'm no expert but the location of the distributor and the exaust port (look at the headers) for the 2 middle cylinders would lead me to believe also towards a small block chevy (350/5700).

Chris,
I got the real scoop on this MkIV replica from Jukka/Lemans.
The donor car was some kind of small French
car. Chevy 327, plexi windscreen, bastardized
brakes and gearbox. Apparently a hand built
one of a kind. I'd love to have the body, but
that's about all. Although,it has a pair of
4 barrel carbs on top.It had to at least be
able to get out of it's own way! But a Chevy
engine.....BAH HUMBUG!!!!

Hi Bill

The body looks good, and the rear part of the chassis looks ok even the interior looks right. I sent them an e-mail for more info.

Chris,

According to Jukka, the car was sold. When the buyer tried to ship it to the USA, there
was a MAJOR customs screwup(engine&gearbox
in place?). The seller mysteriously disappeared. Who knows where the car ended up.
Whoever built the car, please build another,
with a FORD engine!
Bill

Chris,

You don't suppose someone bastardized an
original MkIV, and thus it was called a replica? Jukka said the price was high for
a replica. I wonder.....
