GT40P1040, restored by Racing Icons, is rumored to be appearing in August at the Monterey week- I don't know which venue it's going to be shown at, possibly the Rolex Historic Races? If you plan to be out there, it will be well worth seeing. The car has been restored to the livery and spec in which it competed at LeMans in 1966 as part of the Scuderia Filipinetti team. There were some photos of the partly completed car at Elkhart Lake. The restorer, Robert Ash, is the most knowledgeable and experienced of the few really qualified GT40 restorers on the planet, so 1040 will be quite spectacular. This car languished for years taken apart, so it will be a real treat to see it all back together and in its former glory. One of Robert Ash's other restorations won first place at Pebble Beach in 2003- 1074 or 1076, I can't recall which one. It was spectacular as well.
