Bathurst Endurance race V8 Supercars.

Why oh why wont they show you a complete lap from inside the car, any car would do, if you are good enough to make it into Bathusrt team it would be good enough for me. I have heard all the explanations about sponsor exposure etc etc but surely they could spare just one lap, end to end, they used to do a "Hot lap with XXXXXXX" but that seems to have disappeared.

Winterbottom, Richards take Bathurst pole

AAP | Saturday, 6 October 2007

Ford Performance Racing's Mark Winterbottom and Steven Richards will start on pole for the Bathurst 1000 endurance race on Sunday.

Winterbottom scorched around the Mount Panorama circuit in 2 minutes 07.09 seconds to top the charts in this afternoon's top ten shootout.
Joining FPR on the front row will be Holden Racing Team's Mark Skaife and Todd Kelly.
Skaife came perilously close to equalling the late Peter Brock's record six Bathurst poles with a 2:07.19.
The championship-leading Holden of Garth Tander and Rick Kelly will start from third following Tander's 2:07.28.
Steven Johnson, who crashed in this morning's practice session, recovered to qualify fourth with a 2:08.07.
The Dick Johnson Racing team had to work hard to repair the significant damage to the front, right-hand side of the No.17 Falcon.
Ford's defending champions Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup have a bit of work to do.
Lowndes grazed the wall on the way to a 2:08.24 to put the Triple Eight Falcon at sixth on the grid, alongside the Holden of Lee Holdsworth and Dean Canto.
Lap record holder Greg Murphy was seventh in 2:08.36.
It was a disappointing day all round for Stone Brothers Racing, as James Courtney could do no better than eighth in 2:08.39.
Holden's Paul Radisich and Craig Baird will start from ninth.
Ford veteran Russell Ingall locked up and lost it on the final turn and crawled to a 2:19.59. He and co-driver Luke Youlden will start from 10th

Uuuuh, the group N or "historic masters" is much more interesting to watch --but thats a 2 minute 30 something lap time --the super cars are 2:08 at best . The average Aussie, has an attention span of 1:30 @ best --so, I guess the full lap coverage would be wasted any way:D

Oh! Ian 'xxxx' (4X ) is our beer:chug:

Chris

I spent 14 Years in the middle east and several countrys (Oman, Kuwait, UAE ) had a very civilised method of issueing licences to expatriate workers, once you owned a licence you simply turned up at the bonded warehouse and purchased your favourite tipple,... point of the story ? The two best brands of beer available were Swan and 4x, I have consumed more 4x than I either care to or am able to remember !

Well Keith I just read you post in F1, It isn't telecast until 1am here, 5 hours away. I didn't mention any names and even an Aussie can work out what LH stands for:mad::mad:

Cool! - now I know both results...

Anyway, Motor's TV currently says

"FOR YOUR IVFORMATION 30
There is a technical fault with this channel
Please try later"

Sound but no image

DOH!!!!!!

The last 12 laps were great viewing. I think I'll drive my Ford to work this week, for a change. Of course, the V8 racers are very slightly different to my standard model.

Did you notice in the footage from the previous day the roo hopping along the track? Probably looking for a XXXX to p*** in.

Not from me. The best you may surmise from my post is Ford did O.K. Half the field were driving Fords. I mentioned no driver names and no teams, = No result.

Uh oh and blow me down with a d flat didgeridoo mate.. I thought as you lot were nearer Shanghai, you were bound to be watching it live otherwise I never would have mentioned it.....

I thought everybody had a live TV option on F1 these days?

On another sporting subject, I see the rugger was indeed well and truly buggered - for the Southern Hemisphere at least.....:bash:

No problem Keith, I reckon if any of us are going to discuss results within 24 hrs of a race finishing we should put "Spoiler" somewhere in the heading, then those who have recorded it or don't have it live can avoid reading the thread.
You are right we are a lot closer to Shanghai and should see it live, but bastard channel 10 who have the broadcast rights chose to play it at 1 A.M. After some silly game played by thugs with a University education.

I think some know it as Rugger or Rugby..:D

Ahem "Spoiler" here are the results.

October 8th, 2007

Reigning Bathurst 1000 champions Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup were today crowned the 2007 endurance champions when they won the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 three weeks after their victory at the Sandown 500.
It was the first Ford 1-2-3 since 1988 as the #888 Team Vodafone Falcon crossed the line just seconds ahead of the #4 Jeld-Wen Racing Falcon of James Courtney and Dave Besnard, followed by the #17Jim Beam Falcon of Steve Johnson and Will Davison.
There were eight Ford's in the top ten at the gruelling endurance event and the Blue Oval has secured the 2007 V8 Supercar Championship lead with Jamie Whincup out in front.
The Blue Oval dominated all weekend with Mark Winterbottom scoring pole after putting in the best flying lap in Saturday's Top Ten Shoot Out in his #6 Ford Performance Racing (FPR) Falcon and Steve Johnson topping the practice timesheets on Thursday.
Winterbottom and co-driver Steve Richards led the charge for much of the 161 lap race including breaking the lap record before Winterbottom speared off across the sand trap at Caltex Chase giving the lead to fellow Ford driver Whincup.
Light rain caused an incident which called for a safety car and the race became a ten lap sprint to the end with Lowndes duelling with Courtney and Johnson before taking the chequered flag and with it his and Whincup's second consecutive Peter Brock Memorial Trophy.
Ford's dominance at Bathurst nicely rounded out its clean sweep of both the Sandown and Bathurst endurance events in 2006 and 2007, and cements Whincup in the lead of Championship 16 points ahead Lowndes in second with the next round at the Lexmark Indy 500 on October 18-20.
