Cholmondely Pageant of Power

The club were well represented at the annual CPOP this weekend. The name should be changed to the Cholmondely Pageant of Precipitation as it managed to pour with rain for the fourth year in a row! The club were allocated the best location this year - right next to the bridge over the track. They must be able recognise class when they see it. Club members were on hand as usual to convert the heathen to the joys of GT40 ownership by joining the club. Many hapless punters were thus converted to the one true religion. In the pics you can see Alan Snelson and John Oxborough in full missionary mode. You can tell they are lying - their lips are moving!
It was a pity about the rain as there was a very good range of things to do and see. Planes , boats, cars bikes, tanks etc. If it ever decides to stop raining it will be a very enjoyable show for the petrolheads of this world.
A few pics attached to give a flavour of the event.
Cheers
Mike

Mike

Thanks for the pics, this is a fantastic event that surely deserves a break in the weather.
A big thank you to the northwest section in particular Pete Thompson for organising a prime display area which was well received by the visitors.
Ian Cowan's Southern GT was on display showing his brilliant self constructed fuel injection installation, just pure genius and working well in a 40.
Always good to chat to you Mike, as you were part of the racing scene when I was racing the Modsports E type in the 70s, great days then and now revived with events like these.

cheers
John

Just enclosing a few photos from the CPOP.
More & better shots will be in the Club Magazine report on the event.
Well done Pete for organising the event in such trying conditions-well it was the British summer after all!

That Birdcage Maserati is one we did for Alan Minshaw. Amazing how many Chevy bits you can make fit into something like that, allthough the "Masser old boys" didn't think much of the idea.
We DID cure the uncurable Maserati rear main oil leak, though, with a Big Block Chevy oil seal, now they all do it. Bet we don't get a mention in the Birdcage history books !
