Well, There has been a cabinet reshuffle in Maranello. Pat Fry (ex big mac) has been joined by the perennial Neil Martin (Ex Renault, ex RBR ) and as predicted Chris Dyer
has been left as Engineer 'without portfolio' which means he will be checking in for a one way flight from LIN to LHR some time soon.
 
The problem is that Ferrari were undone by their own team tactic of favouring Alonso. Very difficult to cover 2 RedBulls with one Ferrari. No amount of musical chairs will change that.

The best thing Ferrari could do now is to replace Massa with Kubica.

Big Mac will sever their previous ties with Mercedes by not adopting the silver livery
from this year hence.
Any guesses on what colour it will be?

Valentino Rossi is such fun. He is at the annual wroom event in the Alps and has announced that Mercedes F1 Fat Norbert is right to be looking for another driver (there was a rumour that Fat Norbert was trying to sign Vettel [who you may remember was tipped fo stardom on this website] ) Valentino has gone on record saying, and confirming what we all know anyway, Mercs überfahrer Schumacher is shite.

The Melbourne Lord Mayor wants to can the A.G.P.

Melbourne should drop Formula 1 after its Australian Grand Prix deal ends in 2015, reckons the city's lord mayor Robert Doyle.

While praising the contribution F1 has made to the city since Albert Park first hosted the GP in 1996, Doyle believes the amount of public funding now required by the race is making it unviable.

"In 1996 when the race was a combination of a four-day event and corporate sponsorship was far more generous than it is today, the race still needed to be underwritten by about $1.7 million," Doyle wrote in an article for the Herald Sun newspaper.

"Last year it was $50 million."

"Fast forward to 2015, the year the franchise ends."

"Though the documented benefits for the city may include hundreds of millions of dollars of advertising value, tens of millions of dollars of local revenue, an event that will draw between 250,000 and 300,000 people over three days will come at a cost that will approach 70 million taxpayer dollars."

"It is the old argument: pay up front but get many times the value of the upfront payment in downstream economic benefits."

"For most events that formula is persuasive."

"But $70 million?"

Doyle suggested that Bernie Ecclestone might want to take the grand prix away from Melbourne after the current deal anyway - either to a new nation, or to a track that could run the race as a night event.

He believes $8-9million of upgrades would be required for Albert Park to secure a new deal, but reckons the healthiest option might be for Melbourne to accept that its F1 days have to come to an end, despite everything the race has done for the city's profile.

"The final possibility is that we decide that it has been 20 fantastic years, the benefits to the city and the state have been enormous, but the cycle has run its course," said Doyle."

The Victoria state government will have the final say on whether Melbourne should continue paying for F1, but Doyle believes the politicians should prepare to let the GP go.

"My judgement would be: Get ready. Time's up," he said.

That would be such a shame. The circuit and venue is well liked by the drivers, and it is FAR more interesting than most of the Johnny Come Lately circuits (for that, read "Cash Cow") for Bernie the Bolt.

He is such a wanker, driving all the history and spirit out of the Formula in the name of profit. How much money and power does one man need... :furious::furious::furious:

Ford should be rolling in the aisles at this headline:

"F150 fastest on 1st day of Valencia testing"

I mean you couldn't buy that kind of publicity and it's a Ferrari to boot!

Also looks as if Ross Brawn is set to go gardening again as Mercedes are buying him and the other 3 partners out completely.

Wow! The new 2011 McLaren looks absolutely the business (launched in Berlin at lunchtime today). If it goes as fast as it looks then we should be in for an interesting season. :thumbsup:

I'm always amazed at the differences each year the new cars come out. More pointedly, with all the R&D resources available to the teams, one would think an optimal aero package would be found early on (years ago) with little change from year to year. So...does the odd intakes represent aesthetic differences instead of functional? For example, a blunt nose, then a drooping nose, then a straight nose, then a straight long nose, when all along, a long straight nose would seem to be an obvious choice from the beginning in reducing drag and letting the wings do their job.

Robert Kubica (Renault/Lotus) has apparently suffered "serious injuries" yesterday whilst rallying in Italy.

Don't know anymore than that. Hope it's not too serious, RK is an exciting F1 talent but with the start of 2011 season only 5 weeks away, will he make it to the start line?

Update: Possible broken femur and shattered wrist. If so, he will definitely NOT make the first race at least.. :(
