I am building my engine (still hoping to make Goodwood) but I just came up against a problem. I am fitting roller rockers and trying to adjust them with hydraulic tappets/lifters. At least one of the lifters doesn't seem to have any spring in it. The inside doesn't sit up against the circlip at the top. When I try to adjust it its solid, compared to the others which have a spring in them such that you can easily add the 3/4 turn preload. When trying to put preload on this lifter its hard work (basically I am compressing the valve spring).
Does it sound like I have a faulty lifter or do they behave like this normally??
