GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED MKIIs

I have been told that the three Le mans 1966 Ford MKII's will be making an apearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on the Friday.
Does any one know this???

MKII at FoS

Chris
I have heard from Ronnie Spain that the Trio will be at the Festival of Speed on the Friday before going onto to the Classic Le mans for the Saturday.!!!
I will miss them as I am going on the Saturday!!!

Hi Alan

you will see P1046 (clone) being driven by Dan Gurney at this years Festival to commemorate Fords Fortieth anniversary of the 66 win at Le Mans, full story and photos next week.

regards

Chris.…

The Logistics were wrong

Chris
I though it would be taking a risk that all three cars would be at Goodwood before the Classic Le mans. By clone is the P1046 a real Forty underneath??
Have a great time at the Classic.
Regards Allan

P1008 before as P1075

Had a good look at this car. The plate said 1008 just inside the drivers door.
Underneath the bodywork, ie front clip and engine bay, it was VERY tatty.

Doc, if the black car was 1008 as David has said then it wasn't a mkII, so don't get too annoyed with your neighbour. ;)

Both shots clearly show it is a mkI front clip.

An earlier reply in this post confirmed it was 1008, from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

Hi guys

the black car at Goodwood (P1008) was done in conjunction with
Ray Webber's Mirage Automotive and myself on behalf of Ford.

Ford wanted to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 66 LeMans win, but as Goodwood and the Le mans classic was on at the same time this year, Ford asked me to clone P1046 (the Black Le Mans winner) as the original car would be at the Le Mans Classic and would not be available for Goodwood.

I supplied the Mk11 panels and other parts to complete the job.
Ray and Steve of Mirage Automotive did the paint work and fitted the MK11 panels and wheels and Brian Magee supplied the decals.

I wish to thank Ray, Steve and Brian for their excellent contribution to this project.

regards

Chris.

Motorsport Magazine

Hi All,
The clone of 1046 is featured on the front cover of the latest issue of MOTORSPORT.
Also, there is a comprehensive article inside the magazine, on Le Mans '66,
with many more photos.

I hear on the grapevine, that the Ford Execs at Goodwood were well impressed with the work done on this car. When the sheet was removed, aforesaid Execs couldnt get near the car for 20 mins, due to the attentions of photographers and public.
Nice one Chris and All.

Here's one they made earlier...

Here's a few topical shots of the original (+owner & friends) taken at last weekend's Le Mans Classic. It was a publicity photoshoot for Ford France.
