Hi Nik

Welcome to the forum. You will find lots of information here to help with your (re)build. Which chassis do you have? Is it the origional type which uses a cortina front sub frame or is it the later 'C' type with KVA's own front suspension? I am sure you will have lots of questions to ask in the coming months, or years.

Brian.

I changed the registration question to the following:

"GT40s.com requires me to use my **** **** to register. See #2 of the Forum Rules for the answer."

Clearly, **** **** is "real name".

That ought to do it.

Ron

Sorry i thought N1K TD might have been close enough. I think my kva is running an escort rack at the min. But i looks like it has kva's own suspension. The reciept from kva is dated 1988. I will check tomorrow but im sure it says mark 1 type c if that makes sense.

Cheers nick

Hi Nik,
Welcome to the forum and to the delights and frustrations of GT40 ownership.
If you're going to do any serious work on your car, may I suggest that you join the Enthusiasts Club? We have a wealth of information, someone has solved your specific problems in the past and can give excellent advice on how to resolve them.
If you speak nicely to them, they might even come and give you a hand!
If you still have to get through IVA, Club assistance is a must.
For £30 a year, you get 4 professional, four-colour magazines and the names, addresses and car details of some 300 members, most of whom are in UK and quite a few in the East Midlands.
There's also an area meeting near Coventry where you can meet people.

Type C chassis is OK. It should have tubular front wishbones which are mounted at the angle of the chassis at the front. The rear should have fabricated steel uprights with long links going forward to the chassis. The front brakes and uprights are usually MK2 Ford Granada. I have some pics/info of KVAs if you need them.
have fun.
Cheers
Mike

I am going to join up to the GT40 Enthusiasts Club as well when i get chance.

Thats right Mike, mine has mk2 granada at the front and i think scorpio on the rear, I was thinking of putting some nice brakes on (probably four pots on the front and 2 pot on the rear, but havent had time to research whats best. If you could send me that info/pics of the KVA's that would be great. if its easier for you send them to my email address ([email protected]).

I have a couple of questions regarding steering so it would probably be better if i put them in the steering section.

thanks for your time. nick

Depending on your ultimate goals for use, when upgrading your brakes, it would be worth considering four pots both at the front and rear.
