No6 Ickx/Oliver winning car
No7 Hobbs/Hailwood came 3rd
No8 Sadler/Vestay retired after 10 hours
No9 Gardner/Guthrie retired after 6 hours.
No68 Kelleners/Jost came 6th.

It was memorable--Me and a pal went with Page & Moy--=the whole trip cost about £25 !!Train to Dover, ferry to Calais then coach to Le Mans.
I just wish I had taken more colour photos!
Sadly I did not go back to the 24hours until 2009 but I did go to the Classic in 2008 and have done every Classic since.

I wish I had been there in 69. Alas, I was a lad looking to finish up high school at the time and all my spare money was going into my racing kart and my car..

It makes you think doesn't it? In 1969 I was just starting out in an Entertainment Agency with a certain Mr David Bowie, the diminutive Marc Bolan and the very laid back Jimi (all too short a year RIP)

Little time for motor racing as I had already done a stint with John Surtees, and I thought well, that's it, been there...done that.

If only...

Can't grumble though. :)
