Long shot gamble?

Chrysler, the twice bankrupt auto manufacturer now owned by/partners with/ Fiat, is investing 550 million to build their new minicar, the Fiat 500, in Mexico. And you think Toyota has problems? What do you folks think about how well this car will be received and its chances for success? Personally, all I can envision might be expressed in a Mr. Rogers-esque statement - "Can you say Renault Dauphine, boys and girls?"

Unsure - but hopeful Al...

My wife's 2001 PT Cruiser was built in that plant and believe it or not it's been a relatively good car all these years (save for a couple of design flaws).. The assembly work was very good..

I hope Chrysler can make it work and survive.. I'd like it even more if they built the cars here in the states too...

Dauphine ((Where's that Puking Gremlin?))

Oh - there it is!!!!
:yuck:

The Mini has done pretty well. The Fiat 500 has a bit more european flair, and if you can get it serviced on Main Street at a Chrysler dealeship that might not be so bad. If gas goes back up to $4.50/gallon it'll be a hit!
