MSD in a GTD

I had the same exact problem with my Tach. I bought an MSD adaptor module and the Tach (English SW) works fine now. I don't have the part number right now. I am sure it is in MSD catalog.

Gents,

I pulled out this old thread as I've just wired an MSD in my GTD.

The basic connections are easy enough (as per Franks post), & I've tested the MSD as per the manual for a spark (which works fine).

However, I'm also getting strange tach behaviour /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif I can't start the car yet (the engine installation isn't finished), but when I turn the ignition on, the tach rises straight to about 7K & then starts to fall really slowly ??

Do I need a tach adapter or is there a problem with the wiring?

Simon, how did you rectify your problem?

I have connected the white/silver wire direct to the MSD.

Any help greatly apprecitaed!!

Julian,
I ended up with sending my tacho to a UK company who changed in order to comply with the MSD setting. I believe I had arround 50£ expenses but I am sure they supplied me a new one.Since it works fine.
I cannot remember the name of the Cie but if you want I can dig in my paperwork and let you know.
Rgds

I had same problem with my standard GTD Tach. I used MSD Tach Adapter 8920 and,,,,No problem, all is good.
