How do I get to go into gear? I don’t have any linkage yet. I also have not put any oil in yet. Cheers, Randy

You should be able to operate the shift rod by hand - See circle on pic.
Imagine shifting a manual car > shift rod goes in and out and turns left or right.... turning the input shaft might help - don't use ans tools, be careful.
As for no oil??? There should be some corrosion protection on the gears - turning by hand should not do any harm - my 2 cent

Standard GT40 gear linkage would require you to turn the rod clockwise when looking towards the front of the car, to select the 4&5th gear selector, then pull the rod forwards to engage 4th. Pushing the rod backwards would get you 5th.

I would be very careful with the choice of words used to describe the events around this transaxle. There are two sides to every story. It appears now that everything is going to work out just fine.
