Spa Classic (pics)

Last Saturday I decided to go visit Spa on Sunday.
I had a nice drive (about 2 hrs) up there. The weather was treating us well!

Arrived in Spa and parked right next to David Scaife's car, the only GT40 I saw in the classic car parking lot.
Later that day I met David and his son. We had a nice chat before he left off to GB. (@ David: I hope you had a good trip home)

I also ran into Paul Brameld just before he set off for his track session.
Also nice meeting him after he did me a favour a couple months ago, bringing both our gearboxes from Frank Catt to Chris Cole to get the Quaife LSD build in. (@ Paul: Did you get home with a cool gearbox?)

Walking through the paddock, I met Claude Nahum. He a very nice and lucky man owning 2 original GT 40's (P1078 & P1060) and an exact replica of P1075.
He was there to race P1078. Unfortunately he retired from the race after just a couple of laps due to some kind of mechanical problems.

Nice photos.

Is that Silver GT40 the same silver as the one in my little avatar?

Whats the name for that particular color code?

G-J,

:thumbsup:Great pics!

Arrived home safe after a good run to Calais without Fridays stream of big trucks on the road.

:veryangry:Must now replace the side window the villians smashed overnight.

See you at Le Mans Classic.

David.

David, I still feel a little embarressed about the hooligans that smashed your window.
I wish, we mainland people, could give you, the Islanders, a save feeling on the mainland. But there are always some that spoil it all.
I hope the LMC can make it up!

A few more shots from a great SPA Classic.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Paul. Nice Stuff. Just goes to show...the GT40 looks pretty damn good in just about any color. This is an unusal color so Kudos to Mr. Nabaum for keeping it real.

Hi G-J,
Good to meet you at Spa, you will be pleased to know that the gearbox had not suffered, just the linkage (cables) that had been roasted and made selection a problem! There was also a little too much heat radiated from the (unpacked) silencers, directed towards the gearbox. Wealden sorting all these issues in good time for the LMC & Ring & Faye de Bretagne.
Look forward to meeting up again at the Classic.

Indeed good to hear that ;-)
How was your track session?

Hi G-J
The Friday session was great, using all 6,000 rpm and the new extra ponies but without knowing the circuit that well, could not make the most of it.
The following 2 sessions were OK to good. One session had a lot of traffic whereas the other was clearer but had limited myself to 4,000 rpm just in case of problems in the gear department. At least in this session we could explore the potential of the new Avons which showed much promise - along with high levels of grip & predictability:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
So roll on LMC:pleased::pleased:
