You're not a hot-rodder unless you own a Sawzall... JR's Build Thread

I have a very similar issue but less 3" off the top, I'm 5'8" but with a 28" leg, this makes clothes and as you have also experienced, seats a little.... problematic.

seems to be a common problem Im 6'1" with 30" in seam and nearly 2 1/2 feet across the shoulders I had no choice but to make custom seats, moved them together as close as possible, its still like stuffing 15 pounds of potatoes in to a 5 pound bag, I fit with out a hole in the roof but your way may have been a whole lot less work and money then what I did.

Sounds like a 12 step program.

"Hello, my name is Ron, and I have a disproportionately long torso."

"Hello, Ron" (chimes in the rest of the group)

PS, I can't sit in a Jeep with a sunroof, either. Tried this weekend.

Hi JR

As discussed I'm interested in the Harrop manifold.
What is your plan for those trumpets on the Harrop manifold?
Are you going to leave the trumpets exposed and just attach individual filters to each trumpet? OR
Are you going to inclose the trumpets within an airbox (as per pic below) and then run twin pipes towards the top of the transaxle and mount filters there?

Cheers
Stuart

just run velocity stack filters; minimal power loss. I got turned onto BBR's from Roberto (although they seem to be, hopefully just temporarily, closed for business at the moment)

proper sized airbox is a nightmare to design and will probably just end up costing you power

Here's some progress updates from Allan on the "Gurney Bump" on my car.

Looking good. Any idea what kind of body filler Allan is using?

After 6 layers of fiberglass then a layer of resin mixed with microfiller was added for additional strength. After that I used 3M Platinum Plus filler to even out the contours.

Okay, good news and bad news. Allan got the exhaust done and had the first start. The motor sounded great. That's the good news. So I went up to Connecticut for pedal fitment, etc., and took the car out for a drive before Allan took the body off for final prep and paint.

The car is virtually undriveable as it has way too much power. After much soul-searching, I've decided to use a less high-strung engine. If anyone knows of a good used 4.8 liter LY2 or L20 out of a Silverado or Sierra, I'll be entertaining trade offers until midnight tonight.

JR

Well the joke is going to be on you when I paint your car pink because you still haven't let me know what color you want. :p:

SORRY John. I had been up all night when I seen that. I thought what the hell is he thinking. Then I thought about what day it was. You are correct, I should have kept my mouth (keyboard) shut, and let it play out.

SORRY
Regards Brian
