Using Audi Quatro Transaxle (8HP55) with a V12 - Adaptors

The transmission guy will be removing and configuring the transaxle, he has assessed and said its doable. For torque rating, yes, the front diff will take the full load. The 8HP55 is rated at 510 Nm or 410 lb/ft. So yes the diff section is underated for the V12. Worst case I will get it rebuilt...

Using Audi Quatro Transaxle (8HP55) with a V12 - Adaptors

The output shaft just needs to be removed and a blanking plate installed. The front diff on the trans will be driving the rear wheels. This is going into a mid engined car (not rear engined).

Using Audi Quatro Transaxle (8HP55) with a V12 - Adaptors

Finally got the transaxle adaptor back from machining. Fits perfectly and here are some pics of it fitted to the V12.

Using Audi Quatro Transaxle (8HP55) with a V12 - Adaptors

I can measure this transaxle and confirm without doubt if it will fit or not.

Audi A4 DSG dual clutch transmission

The other transaxle from Audi is the 8HP55. This is a much more advanced than the DSG. But hard to get an adaptor plate. Search the forum for my thread on Jag V12 and 8HP55.

Scratch Build of Jag XJ220 Replica

This project is still progressing even though not much progress. 3 months travelling hasn't helped! I have imported a Jag V12 6.0 engine for this and have an 8HP55 8 speed transaxle (from an Audi Quatro). Engine is up and running on an engine stand. It's only got exhaust stubbs on atm and sounds...

Using Audi Quatro Transaxle (8HP55) with a V12 - Adaptors

The 8HP55 is an 8 speed automatic transaxle used in Audi Quatro vehicles. Its rated at 550 Nm and as its 8 speed, has very low 1st and 2nd, close ratio 3rd to 6 and overdrive 7 and 8th. Shift points can be programmed to match torque curves of the engine using a Turbo Lamic TCU. There is even...

Scratch Build of Jag XJ220 Replica

Someone asked a question on the CNC router I built for building the panels. Here are a couple of pictures of the Z and X axis which will give a better idea of how its built rather than a long explanation. Here are a couple of key points: I used a 'mod 1' (fine pitch) rack and pinion for the X,Y...

Scratch Build of Jag XJ220 Replica

Over 1 year since my previous post! I haven't given up on this project, just have been very busy working on this and also Im temporarily back at my old job as a contractor. Got the windscreen, hatch and door glass in! Have had big problems with the windscreen and door glass, this is version 2...

Doug’s RCR Jaguar D Type Build.

A possible solution is to use a Ford 'Barra' straight 6 engine and transmission package. These are Aussie produced and the 'Barra' is an awesome modern engine that is bulletproof and high performance. Its DOHC and should fit the engine bay quite well.

Scratch Build of Jag XJ220 Replica

Here are a couple of pictures, have epoxy primed the car and temporarily fitted the doors, boot and bonnet. Im now fitting hinges and gapping the panels before applying high build primer and blocking.

Scratch Build of Jag XJ220 Replica

Chassis (and suspension) and basic panels are now (mostly) complete and next step is to fit and finish the panels to suitable standard. Then seats, interior, closing panels, glass and interior, engine and wiring. Still much work! Glass is a big problem because of the unique shape of the...

Scratch Build of Jag XJ220 Replica

Im assuming you mean the large floorpan area is very weak? This is yet to be filled as seat mounting tests are rather stringent and the seat runners will need to be firmly mounted to the chassis members (50x25x3mm). Will be adding these when I decide on the seats I will use. The centre backbone...
