the rear exhaust is much quieter in the car. The side exhaust only had short mufflers and I needed to wear ear plugs when driving on the track.

Yes - I changed the exhaust to exit the rear and haven't closed the side holes yet. That corner at Daytona is slowing down from about 175 to turn left into the infield. Lots of fun (once you get past the fear!).

Hello All: I've been enjoying my SL-C on the track recently at Road Atlanta and Daytona. Fran suggested that I share some photos with you. I'm really enjoying the car - gaining confidence and speed. The car has incredible limits and it always draws a crowd. Enjoy Jon B

Thanks Mike. I was not pushing very hard so maintaining the line was easy. The car does do what it is supposed to - it is easy (and very fun) to drive. I was probably driving at 70-80%. I am slowly working up to the incredibly high limits of the car. JB

Alex: The clutch issue was undetectable from the pedal. It felt just fine. I'm having my Porsche mechanic help with the replacement. I'll post more information about the adjustment process when I can. JohnB: I bought Dean Lampe's old car - so you can check the build in his log. I've done...

Thanks Will. Yes - I agree that I could be more aggressive. I'm just getting used to to the car and building confidence that everything is going to hold together. My best lap time was a 1:36. My other car is a 911 turbo and I've run 1:32's in it. I'm running old Dunlop slicks that Dean got...

Progress Report: Upgrades to Dean's Old Car

Thanks Michael. I do not have a front bonnet hinge. I'm not sure whether I can add hinges to front or rear. I'd like to if possible.

Progress Report: Upgrades to Dean's Old Car

Mark: My goal for the exhaust swap was to make the car a little quieter. The side exhaust had a very harsh tone and I don't like having to wear ear plugs when driving it. Jack: The canards only go on one way due to angles of the mounting points.

Progress Report: Upgrades to Dean's Old Car

Thanks Will. The canards only install one way. They have a vertical tab that fits up against the fender lip that would stick out in the air if turned around.

Good call on the hoses close to the exhaust. I'll work on some heat wrap. Dean: The motor was dyno'd by Brad Brand at Atlanta Chassis Dyno. The motor started at 446 hp and ended up at 463. Brad had to lean it some and added some timing. Nothing else was done.
