    World wide GT 40 market

With currencies in a state of flux, but the economy in the US improving I was wondering how the market is. Not a lot of cars seem to be available. I'm contemplating selling my car ( time for a change after 10 years of excitement). One thing we South African's have going for us is a cheap...

    Gt40 2079/1023

I loved your article Claus. Reminds me of why I fell in love with GT 40 s in the first place. And as the proud owner of a low-end replica I venture to say that I think that particular car is probably one of the nicest looking GT 40 s ( real , replica or fraud) that I've seen and I'm sure driving...

New and old guy from South Africa

Sounds like you have a lot of thinking to do Henty, but between this Forum and and the rest of RSA there will be plenty of available advice.

Where in RSA are you based Henty? I live in Jhb. Have you spoken to John Botha? He has a lot of GT 40 build experience and CAD drawings.

    Widebody RCR40

Can anyone advise whether any GT 40 Mk 1 s had their front arches flared? Mine ( which started life as a KVA) does and sometimes I feel guilty and am tempted to remove them. The flares I mean.

    Hello from Portugal

Hello Miguel, I spend time in Portugal ( bear Evora) and hope to move there some time- with my GT 40 ( KVA based custom). I wonder how difficult it will be to license it there.

    Portuguese GT 40s

I'm thinking of taking my replica to Portugal ( from South Africa) when I move there. Are there any in Portugal?

    An old chestnut. Hartwell latches

Hi Andrew can you tell me ( without offending anyone) why you went for RCR's latches and not Tornado's who are in the UK and therefore duty free to you and cheaper to ship? I'm not familiar with any of the versions although Goldparts' are apparently more accurate.

    An old chestnut. Hartwell latches

Sorry to drag this one out again, but I phoned Superformance the other day to see if they'd sell me some "Hartwell"latches. Not a chance of course. Lack of these fittings really detracts from my car's look . Has anyone yet found an affordable source/ copy?

Start of a long journey to...

Perhaps you should convert the suspension in South Africa- and then ship. It may be less expensive.

Start of a long journey to...

John Botha who lives in Johannesburg has done many KCC conversions from Granada suspension to a pretty good facsimile of the real thing.

    Overheating

Have heard that before Chris, but I assume the header tank on the rear bulkhead is your highest point in the cooling system. I too have a bleed valve on the top of the radiator. But I suspect that I had air trapped, maybe in the heads, as Jac suggests, that moved to the header tank-after some...

    Overheating

Sorry Jac I did say my system HAS changed drastically since the pic. And the header tank, now on the firewall, has both an inlet and outlet of course. The system worked well for a year or two since these changes before it started running hot (possibly after working on it and letting in air)...

    Overheating

Although my engine/suspension configuration has changed drastically from the pic you attached, you are telling me, I think, that air trapped in parts of the system( eg. cyl. heads) can cause overheating even if the basic header tank to radiator and return system does circulate. Many thanks for...
