I believe it applies to all of them. the total length must not exceed 4.7" You are certain your shaft is hitting the end of the pilot hole and not being stopped by the pilot bearing? You also said you got rid of the Safir bearing and are using a bushing?

Can you post the picture. My manual has no picture in it. Just placeholders for them. What does yours measure?

For what it's worth, the ERA build manual says the bellhousing must measure 4.0" face to face. It also says this about the -2 ZF:

I forgot the ZF input shaft is actually hollow for about 0.5" in so that cut will be much simpler.

Very interesting information -- your thread certainly enlightened me prior to doing the same thing. That's a pretty hard shaft to cut with a Dremel?

Here's another critical measure I took that you may confirm. Assembled bellhousing onto ZF. Added back plate. Put straight edge across the opening and measured the amount the ZF input shaft sticks out beyond. I get 7/8" exactly.

To clarify what Bob told me regarding the position of my pilot bearing on my ZF input shaft in the picture I posted herein, he said the bearing was sitting further on the shaft that it will be in the final installation. I probably had poorly stated what he said earlier. I have yet to do this...

There is a totally rebuilt ZF for sale on the forum now. Totally redone. That should give you an idea of pricing. There is a ZF repair / rebuild manual out there (it's a very large PDF file).

My bellhousing measures 3 and 15/16" thick from mounting face to face.

No - I put a straight edge across the face of the ZF and measure from there out. No bellhousing on it.
