    '87-'89 G50 on eBay

German Auto Dismantlers G50 Auction I will post a picture once sellar confirms the production year of this transaxle. I have emailed to sellar asking him to verify if the transaxle pictured is the transaxle for sale; and, if not, I asked for verification that it is indeed an '87-'89 model...

A Lot of New Users Lately

Everyone, We have had an atypically large number of new registrations lately. :pepper: A lot of people from Australia! And others from California to Austria. Welcome aboard to all! Enjoy the forum and please read the FAQs and information for new users. I think you'll find this a...

    Adapter Plates for 930s / G50s

It sounds like Chris has the balance issue covered in that he is offering 28 oz(early), 50 oz (late) and neutrally balanced flywheels (race; requires rotating assembly balancing.) Very standardized! And, should be able to suit anybody's needs.

    Adapter Plates for 930s / G50s

Russ, It really wasn't the throw out bearing I was concerned about (more than enough adjustabitlity there to deal with the thickness variation.) While you are correct that thickness variation is the only dimension that will vary appreciably, it is the effect on starter location with...

How to best store a complete motor?

John, Spring steels are made by hardening the steel (various process that include a combination of doping the crystal and quenching.) When held in shear long enough the forces, especially at the surface, can cause micro excursions beyond elastic strain into plastic strain (not recoverable)...

    Adapter Plates for 930s / G50s

Chris, Are your adapter plates dimensionally compatible with other Kennedy components? (I have a Kennedy flywheel and a Patrick/Centerforce clutch setup.) PM or email pricing if you get chance. Thanks, Lynn

Fuel Pumps and Petrol / Alcohol Mixes

Lance, I would suggest that you look to Brazil for information. They have been running alcohol/petrol mix and pure alcohol for years now. Because of the huge amount of sugar cane production there, they, rightfully so, saw alcohol as locally produced, renewable alternative to petrol fuels...

    How stupid is this?

Howard, I am with you on guns and other freedoms being slowly chipped away! I have posted elsewhere that if there was a place that wasn't happening, I'd seriously consider reloacating, but, alas, there isn't. I agree with everything you said, BUT when it comes to fuel, we should be smart...

    How stupid is this?

Keith, They squirt water because the can! Alcohol being water soluble, as opposed to petroleum based fuels like gas or diesel., is diluted down so any spill from refueling is rendered virtually harmless by the water. Lynn

    How stupid is this?

Keith, I agree! I have been thinking a lot about this lately and the only good PC(green), engineering reasonable, performance fuel to me is alcohol (or a gas-alcohol mix.) You'll have to burn a lot more of it, some seals in the fuel system may have to be replaced, but at least you won't...

Spools or welded diffs on track cars

Sandy, From what I have read, you are spot on re: Porsche drivers liking the clutch type LSD for the braking bias they give vs a Torsen type. If they could get the overrun number (as Russ calls it, translating for us 'mericans ;-) up on a Torsen, it would actually be preferred. So, maybe...

need torque specs - G50 pressure plate to flywheel

Thanks Jerome! For the new mechanic reading this, JMRacecars recommendation for tightening bolts in a crossing pattern is a VERY good habit to get into. It was one of the very first things I learned when reinstalling the heads on my '53 flat head Ford when I was 16 and I've been using it ever...

    Any members in Oslo (Christiania)

Paolo, That is possible, but not what I am looking for. Oslo burned down at one point way back. When it was rebuilt the King of Norway renamed the new town Khristiania. Later, the name was updated to Christiania. Finally, it was renamed back to the original Oslo. I think there are...
