    Joel’s SL-C Build Thread

Joel, You may have covered this and I missed it but I would suggest that you use some type of fuel rated sealant to seal the floor pan to the aluminum cross members of the frame before you install the tank. The weld beads are not continuous and if any fuel does manage to leak and pool up in...

    Converting RHD SLC to LHD

Kyle, That is running very rich as mine did originally. I have noticed on my build that the Terminator X base fuel table is very conservative and rich to start with. I have only had mine "learning" in the lower RPM range so far and it is pulling about 40% fuel out of each cell. If you look...

One last post before I take a break from the SL-C for a while to remodel our master bathroom in the house. After fabricating a duct in the top of the spider the body is now final fit into place and my wheel well gaps measure equal all the way around. For my duct I used flat sheet aluminum...

Recommended rubber and thickness to mount fuel tank.

Joel, I used part number 90125K58 from McMaster Carr which is 1/4” thick x 1” wide neoprene rubber on the frame rails beside, under, and in front of the tank as well as on my tank brackets holding it in place. I fastened it in place with contact adhesive if I remember correctly.

Thank you everyone for the input on the window cutouts. I have not yet made a decision so more input is always welcome if anyone has any. I just do not like the sharp corners and triangulated edges on the opening when the rest of the car is so fluid with long sweeping radii. The possible...

Hector, I have not gone back and checked all my preliminary chassis setups yet after final fitment of the spider. I am planning to build some wheel cribbing to set the car on it's tires in the air instead of on my jackstands. I will re-check everything once that is complete. I was pretty...

Question for the fellow builders. I have seen some builders leave the triangulated factory cutouts on the doors and others have cut the openings to a radius corner instead of the triangle. Has anyone cut the triangles to a radius and regretted doing so? Is the large section at the top of the...

Howard, The stock shocks have a surprisingly large amount of travel. I pulled the spring today while working on things and ran it thru full articulation. I have ample travel still to run the tire up thru the bodywork above it. I could have went higher but the tire was hitting the wheel...

    Joel’s SL-C Build Thread

Joel, VERY NICE!!!! This gives the stock seats the streamlined look of the Tillett seats that I like so much. Now you have me re-thinking my mounting, damn you!! ;) :p

Howard, Thank you for the “heads up”. I’ll pull a spring and run the shock/suspension thru it’s full articulation and double check that.

Del, I have the plain Brembo logos also and did not like the "basic" look of just having the logo, personal preference. Everyone is entitle to their own opinion. I tried to fit my Infinity Reference 4555A amplifier under the dash (4x65 watts plus 500 watts for the sub) but it is WAY to large...

Howard, Yes it does. I think I got "lucky" with my fitment and it was pretty easy to sort out (I did have a lot of help from reading what everyone on here has done before me :) . I did have to shim the body up some as noted above but it fits perfectly. The only issue now is that the shims...

HELP WITH A ACCELERATOR PEDAL CABLE

Steve, No problem, always happy to help out a fellow builder. Attached is an assembly drawing and some detail drawings. The linkage arm is simple and straighforward but if you were to machine the bracket I would suggest simplifying the design. It is currently optimized for strength via 3D...

Kyle, Yes, I attached fiberglass rivnuts into the tub, two per door sill to pull the tub up to the spider using stainless FHCS's. It really stiffened up that area, I can no comfortably sit on the sill while getting in and out of the car without feeling like the fiberglass is going to collapse...

While the spider was back off I made all the cutouts for the door hinges and upper roof scoop. Also added a 1/4" thick aluminum doubler plate for the door hinges. And then it was time to put the spider on for the last time (at least until I take everything back apart for bodywork and...

Kurt H (hoffkm) SL-C build thread

Been about a month since my last update. I had a goal to get the spider fit and set in place before my daughter went back to college (that day was today). Nothing against my wife but our daughter is a better assistant in the shop. Since charging my AC before Christmas here are some of the...

HELP WITH A ACCELERATOR PEDAL CABLE

I'll bring my CAD station (laptop) home some night this week and put together some detail drawings and an assembly drawing of my setup.

HELP WITH A ACCELERATOR PEDAL CABLE

Steve, Here is how I set my Tilton Pedal assembly up to accept a cable. I designed and 3D printed a reverser linkage and ran my cable straight back along the spine, thru the hole in the fuel tank, up and over the motor to the throttle body at the rear of the motor. Idle Full Throttle With...

Dan, AWESOME!! Two thumbs up in a V formation! Is this paint or vinyl? Love it either way. I have been on the fence of graphics or not and yours is inspiring me.
