    GTD40 steering Colomn

That's precisely what I was thinking about... And I've found a very nice period steering wheel, with a lovely patina, which will replace the ugly 13' GTD stock wheel. That "new" wheel is in 15', so removable feature will be mandatory !

    GTD40 Restoration

Andy, Just an additionnal question... does your chassis have that "forward" gap only at the left middle beam level (where you put your ruler for the picture), or does that same gap exist also at the bottom of the chassis (at the floor level, at the foot of the vertical steel tube supporting...

    GTD40 Restoration

Bob, If I may, you'll find some "door tongue set" on Southern GT website (as you may know, GTD has shut down years ago and no longer exists) Southern GT - Manufacturer of the new Southern GT40 Replica-9g30342e1q8hia1pskpjhco5o0

    GTD40 steering Colomn

Hi Andy, It seems that I have the same steering column as yours... I checked again few minutes ago, and when I loose the black plastic knob, the column can move up and down and back and forth. Tightening back that knob, locks the column in its position, whichever it is... However, in my...

Paint ideas - P1076 1968 La Mans Gulf???

If you finally go the sticker route, you could ask to these guys : Buy Classic Motoring Stickers, Decals & Other Unique Automobilia They have the largest catalogue of stickers you could imagine, and they can do whatever you want. IMO, if you just ask for a larger "Gulf sticker", they could...

    Something is missing

I just wonder if you will hear that same highly sought after glorious sound from inside the car ? If not, you'll have maybe to buy another car to follow your best friend driving yours :D (I'm willing to volunteer, if he is not free) Or installing a microphone near the exhaust, connected to your...

    Superlite "side" cars

Donno in the US, but in France, the "passenger" for such machines is nicknamed "the monkey", for his ability to hang from every part of the body

Paint ideas - P1076 1968 La Mans Gulf???

Congratulations, very nice choice ! I've been very hesitant beetween this combo and the far more classical orange stripped Gulf livery (which I finally chose). Two pics you surely already saw...

EFI/Weber guy from the Cobra community

Hello welcome, One of my friend has put the EightStack EFI system on his engine (SBF 363 ci). On his thread, you can see a dyno run of the engine with the EFI fitted. Runs nice ! As the car is not fully completed at the moment, he has not been able to road test it, but this should be...

    Cheers from Italy

I live in Marseille, not so far from Italy ! Someday, a trip to collect some fine red wine could be scheduled... (BTW, next September, I'll be in Barcelona for the European Cobra Meeting 2015, where the GT40s are guests, if you wanna join with your 427...) The French Rosé de Provence...

    Cheers from Italy

Hi welcome and congrats ! But, I was on the idea that ERA decided to stop making GT40 kits, few years ago. Did they changed their mind recently ? Or is your kit an older one, waiting in some forgotten cave to be bought by a real enthusiast ? :shy: I've always considered these cars, as...

    Rover V8 engine/Citroen box

Just remember that the Renault UN1 gearboxes are said to be far stronger than those weaker C35 (but the citroen is said to shift better). The UN1 is still inexpensive, and it could be a better starting point whatever engine you're gonna put in your car.

The other solution could be inverting the gearbox, this should lower the input shaft quite a bit, thus the motor (which then should be put level). I've seen that done on a GTD, the owner had to modify the motor mounts and change the oil pan (He told me that it lowered the engine about 15cm. He...
