  7. Late eighties GTD40 build

    Late eighties GTD40 build

I built this GTD 1989-90(?), drove it daily ~60,000 miles through 92-94 and then sold it to Tony Cooper who repainted green I believe. Took it around many french/spanish tracks - paul ricard, le mans, etc, but mostly goodwood - I lived very close by and pend many test days there.

Dang, that sounds like good value. 6,000 miles over 20+ years - the things still new. :D Good luck, but I can't imagine this will last long.

Great job Sean. Did you start with the Deluxe Plus? Any options? They look like nice quality parts..

I don't see an Edit link on my avatar - presumably because I'm too new? Or something else?

Are any replicas feasible as daily drivers?

Funny finding this thread after all these years.. yes, I built a GTD40 back in 90-93, and put on around 60,000 miles before selling it for a ridiculously cheap price to fund the next project. It was my only car, and I drove it a lot! Certainly to work, but then I always took the long way back...

    GT40 replica 1968

I'm not in the market quite yet unfortunately (I built a Mk1 in nineties and just came back to the scene) but I wanted to say your car looks very nicely done Alan. Best of luck..

Back from the nineties.. missing my GTD40 mk1

Hi all, I built a GT Developments GTD40 Mk1 back in early nineties and used it as a daily driver for a couple years, racking up 60,000 miles and visiting many of the big tracks in Europe, including Le Mans. It was white with light blue stripe. I sold it to Tony Cooper in ~93 who I'm told...
