Tornado TS40 Build Belfast Northern Ireland

I intend to vent from the tank itself but quite a few caps both lock and have a vent (most motorcycle ones do, although they're not suitable for cars as they're designed to sit inside a special recess). I was looking to get something like a pair of these Fuel Filler Cap but I don't know if they...

    Darrin's MMR BOSS based GT40

It might just be because the door isn't located properly yet (it looks a bit down at the top right) or it might just be an optical illusion from the photo. Can be quite hard to tell from photos sometimes. As long as you're happy with it in the flesh. :)

    Darrin's MMR BOSS based GT40

The step between 'A' pillar and door, I've put a red line on your picture to show what I mean and in comparison someone elses car. It should be flush. Now that might just be because your doors aren't hanging atm but just placed but the body work fitting gives a dimension across the door with...

    A Tornado in Yorkshire

Not much different from most production cars, if you're lucky they drop down but most are buried up under the dash under the passenger side.

    Darrin's MMR BOSS based GT40

If you haven't bolted the front of the spider down might want to experiment with moving it forwards slightly, makes quite a difference to the 'A' pillar alignment with the door as it'll bow the roof (and so 'A' pillars) up.

    Renato's GT40 MkI Coyote

Are you using the Del-Spheres for all three joints or a different spherical bearing on the upper/lower balljoints?

Steering column to quick release sleeve.

I don't know the top column (with the wings) attaches on the 'C', on the 'B' it's bolted on but in the picture I found of the C it looks like slide in. It looks like there isn't quite the same setup on the 'C' and the end of the column should just slide off (with some encouragement). I...

    sunvisors for mk3

Have you got any photos? I'm afraid I'd be no use at identifying them but I'm not sure I've ever seen them.

Steering column to quick release sleeve.

Oh and while you've kept the wings and made a nice new bearing block the spherical bearing way is *far* easier. :)

Steering column to quick release sleeve.

Inner hub is magnesium alloy. Going to find it tricky to mate. Have you got a lathe? You can manually broach splines although it's a pain to do. Personally I'd weld the 22.5mm shaft end onto an quick release adapter. The 'C' has the same setup as the 'B' in that there is the intermediate...

Steering column to quick release sleeve.

No, I'd leave it in. You don't need the plastic, you can rely on the grub screw on the spherical bearing to hold the shaft in place. Or TBH having thought some more just a some hot glue squeezed in would probably be about the right kind of 'hold it for normal use but break easily under heavy...

Steering column to quick release sleeve.

Which of course means it is impossible to separate them without breaking it.

Steering column to quick release sleeve.

It isn't a pin. It looks like one from the outside but it's actually a groove in the inner spined section (similar to the kind of groove you see when a bolt is used to clamp onto a spined section) and then the two holes in the outer section. Plastic is then injected in and fills the groove and...

Steering column to quick release sleeve.

Don't know about the 'C' but for using the 'B' the column is disassembled somewhat and the steering lock and the shroud down to the motor discarded. The shaft that comes out of the motor is spined onto which slides the rest of the column (this is so the column can compress in an accident, it's...

Beautiful work. One question, what is the gold coloured thing on the nylon blocks? Is it just something to allow some expansion slippage?

    GT40 Mk2 Chassis Build Plans

I think all the major makers would sell you body work at (their) right price... Its worth asking them all first, deciding on who to go with and asking them for critical dimensions as while very close there might be some differences. (I've heard for example RCR took molds from an original while...

    Mazda 20 B engine in SL-C

It's more that you increase the chance of detonation with a higher charge temp (so you have to reduce power to avoid it going pop) plus a cooler charge is denser so while you might be right from a strict thermodynamics POV its not that simple in the really real world. :) IIRC Rotaries really...
