    Flange Choice for Exhaust Build

There are so many variables to each build I doubt this exhaust would fit other applications. Where the motor sits and the angle, the port height on the heads etc...along with different clearances for transaxles would make it impossible to successfully duplicate and fit. I now know why Fran...

    Flange Choice for Exhaust Build

Thanks for the input everyone! I finished the exhaust. Turned out great! All primaries are within an inch in length of each other and I was able to use one piece flanges. It sits as low as it possibly can. I'll be building heat shields for the transaxle and rear of the intake. The pipes will...

    50/52 Transaxle Cooler

My 50/52 transaxle has fittings for a cooler. But I'm wondering if I need some sort of pump to move the oil? Or is there an internal mechanism that moves the oil? Kim

    Flange Choice for Exhaust Build

I read a thread that was troubling in that I'm running electronic fuel injection and the oxygen sensor will need a completely sealed exhaust. I'm using slip on collectors that will probably leak a bit...any good solutions for this that someone has had experience with? Any kind of sealer would...

    Flange Choice for Exhaust Build

By heat cycles do you mean when they are off the car and being TIG welded or after they are on the car and have been heated from the engine?

    Flange Choice for Exhaust Build

Thanks, Bob. I'm getting shipped 3/8" flanges, will these be thick enough to use as individual flanges or should I try to source 1/2" flanges?

    Bundle of Snakes Advice

Now that I'm a bit into the build I can give you a better idea on costs. With racing mufflers and interchangeable straight pipes for the track, my material costs are right at $1400. I found a great mandrel bend and exhaust parts supplier here in LA called JMD and they gave me a good 20% off...

    Flange Choice for Exhaust Build

So I'm in the process of building my bundle of snakes. I borrowed a friends Iceengine header design kit and am working away. I was trying to put everything together with one piece header flanges on each side but for a number of reasons I would like to cut the flange into individual pieces for...

New possible source for Bundle of Snakes Exhaust

They look good but how do you get to the spark plugs?

    Bundle of Snakes Advice

Just now was able to catch up with this discussion. I verified with Fran that my engine/transaxle is placed correctly front to back. My engine does sit at an angle up back to front. I'm moving forward with a complete new fabrication of the headers. To give me the best shot at proper fitment...

    Bundle of Snakes Advice

Thanks Scott... here are a couple of photos of the exhaust I have now and where the transmission sits in the Horse shoe. I talked to Fran yesterday and he thinks I should abandon these headers and build a new system. He said it's near impossible to make a 2 inch header system that will fit this...

    Bundle of Snakes Advice

Its possible the headers were made for a 302 block with standard height heads, my Z head ports are about 3/4" taller I don't think the Boss block is much taller than a 302...right now the height dimension is almost 3" too tall...and 2" too wide on both sides. If they were fashioned on a 351...

    Bundle of Snakes Advice

The stainless steel bundle of snakes I received with the RCR GT40 project I purchased turned out not to fit the car. Everything is too high and too wide to fit under the fiberglass rear clip. I'm in the re-design stage of re-working the exhaust and am looking for opinions on what clearances...

    I Squared 1+1 Power System

I have a new/old stock ISquared 1+1 Power System that I have decided not to install in my build. It comes with a complete wiring package. Perhaps someone out there is running this system and needs a back up or to replace a defective unit? They are no longer manufactured. This system sold new...

    Porsche transaxle starter fitment...

Randy, A clever solution! Fortunately my starter doesn't have the nose cone so I'm only limited by the clearance between the solenoid and the CV joint. Kim

    Porsche transaxle starter fitment...

Flatchat, I see...your setup puts the flywheel deeper in the housing than the stock Porsche position. That allows you to use the 101NL type starter...$300. My flywheel sits in the stock Porsche position so I need a longer pinion shaft. Here's a side by side of the 2 starters.
