    CamT's build thread

Thank you guys, appreciate all the kind words. Phew ... finally ... back together again! I was running on fumes (actually had to bum some gas off my father in law just to get to the gas station). Once there, the car attracted a crowd, not unusual. The yellow really ... stands out. I'm...

Disassemble - 3 hours Mask - 5 hours Dip - 6-7 hours Reassemble - 10-15 hours Putting things back together is taking a lot more time as I’m having to be more careful and actually pay attention to what I’m doing. I’m also doing things like adding PPF, some more seals, etc. significant time...

You mean to disassemble car, mask, dip, reassemble car?

A few update pics. Hoping I can get the car back on the road this weekend. I can already tell it’s going to be VERY difficult to keep the car looking presentable. The yellow really highlights any dirt or smudges on the dip.

Very cool setup, looks super trick! I've been really impressed with Radium's hardware.

I've had some fuel spillage on the dip when I tried filling with one of those red gas cans. Otherwise at the fuel pump I never have a problem, I just grab a couple of papertowels from the dispenser and catch any errant drips before they make it onto the dip. California pumps probably dispense...

    LSA SLC Build Log

Bob - would you be open to summarizing your parking brake upgrade along with part numbers and sourcing info to add to the SLC wiki? I think this would make a fantastic addition and, frankly, between the hand brake and e-stopp solutions, neither is all that great. This looks like it could...

Probably not for a while, I've been enjoying the dipping process and I'd like to develop my painting skills some more, I have a ton to learn. If I go real paint I'd like to do it myself but I have a long way to go before I'd be able to paint something competently. I also like the fact that...

I’m pretty partial to the yellow and black myself ;) second choice would be red and black.

Kurt - check out this video on how to paint stripes with plastidip, easier than you think. It’s never going to be as good as real paint but as a temporary solution it’s really tough to beat. If you’ve got top notch painting skills you can really go wild with plastidip. Thanks everyone - the...

Funny you should ask - I've got a new blog entry that talks all about the plastidipping! 70. The emperor's new clothes The SLC sits somewhere between the medium and large car kits. I used avalanche gray for the base coat and DYC's performance series sulfur yellow for the color. Both seemed...

Lol - it's a great deal! But I'm already stocked for at least one, possibly 2 more colors ...

    Looking for Advice/Opinions/Input

I'm still not sure what you mean by "more race than street". The SLC (all SLCs) are already more race than street. It's super low, has a high hp/weight ratio, is very loud, has a stiff suspension that's very low for just about any urban setting, and has fixed windows and no view out the back...

    Ken's SLC build thread

I believe the Spal 30103202 12" fans are an almost-direct swap for the RCR fans. Comments on Summit state the fans peak at 25amp on startup and 14 when running. I believe Allan may also be swapping his builds out for these fans in favor of the ones included in the kit. (Visually), they...

Yeah so funny thing - and this is only important to the folks in California who might want to go the dipping route. I have a mix of 49-state and California "Low VOC" plastidip. This was my first time using the Low VOC version of their product. Their standard product has almost no overspray...

Lol yeah, those are basically my throwaway shoes that I can’t bring myself to throw away (I have several of those now). They were my SLC construction shoes for most of last year. I’m very particular about the shoes I wear, one of my strange OCD things maybe. I buy them when they’re...

Lol - you got me, refunds available at the door! Here’s a teaser pic, I wanted to get the car all together before showing more of the in-process stuff. Now that the family is back my garage time shrinks once again.
