At first I thought that as well; but then, after I read Fran's statement [that the donor car's 4G63T would be utilized], wouldn't that rule out the third generation (4G64 toting) Eclipse?
I'm guessing that would be the 6G72? For the eclipse it came only as an NA SOHC yet the DOHC 24V twin turbo variants were found in Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4/Dodge Stealth RT. From what I have seen, these iron block V6 appear quite potent. How does the 6G72/74 compare with the 4G63T; specifically...
The sketches in the background of this picture are quite a treat! If my vision serves me then the rear end is going to look beastly... something akin to a Gallardo or R8 -- with the dark vents under scoring the tail lights.
I will definitely be purchasing one (built through Nirvana Motor...
Don't really think Fiberfab's Valkyrie (GT40 knock-off) competes with any of Fran's offerings...
If you want to drive home in a supercar why not buy a modified corvette?
...your right, but some of us don't fancy our rockets needing a launch time of 5 seconds before full power (around the 500 hp range). Although with a moderate set-up, 300 hp could be had quite linearly. A V6 would add a nice sound and some more low-end grunt... but in a car lighter than a...
So the 4G63T is the "standard" 4 cylinder motor for this chariot, but has Fran worked out a V6 for the GTA yet? Are there any particular V6's in mind (Ford, Chevy, Nissan, Toyota, etc)?
Scan from Steven Hung of the ariel view:
Only thing is... the new Super-lite car will use a production car safety cell along with the 4 banger that comes with that car. While I could be wrong, I assume the donor car's motor will have be in the rear.
My best guess is that it'll be a Toyota MR2/MR-S.
Hopefully they get a V6 to...
A buddy took me by a new local McLaren dealership yesterday. When asked what I thought about their MP4-C12, and the $300,000 price tag, I replied, "I could buy two RCR SL-C's for one these"...
So it seems an I-4 is confirmed but a V6 might be an option... would be really neat to see something like Nissan's VQ37VHR or Ford's Duaratec 37 Ti-VCT V6 (from 2011 mustang) tucked in this new super-lite ride!
Excited to see this clean up those pesky Nissan GT-R's and the like!
In terms of name... it looks like a "Superlite Dagger" or a "Superlite Bullet" to me :).
Figured as much but thank you for clarifying .
Can an approximate price point be named as of now? Before anyone else asks, will the engine continue to stay where it belongs (in the rear)?
Looks superb!!!
Is this new Superlite car a successor to the SL-C, or does it fulfil more of a "Sports Car" (rather than Super-Track Car) niche for the line-up?
