Always pushes out a litre of coolant????

Where is your sender for the electric pump? If this is just beyond the thermostat, that may be the issue. With the 6mm hole in the thermostat your controller could be seeing hot before the thermostat is fully open starting and pumping up against a dead head so to speak. IE: 6mm hole only for...

    ZF Half Shaft Bad Vibes

Phasing as in picture four is correct. Also check that you have clearance on your axles under full plunge, I have seen a car run smooth at droop then awful vibration when driving. He did not allow enough end clearance for plunge, an allowance for extra plunge due to bushing compliance should be...

Hampton Downs Festival of Speed January 2010

I second that. I only went for the Sunday but what a day, the sound of the big V8s was totally awesome. A grid of 36 F5000 for the first race on the Sunday, This they believe to be a World record grid. 1:03 was the quickest time I heard of by a Canam car. That car was really hooked up as was...

    Electric rivet gun?

I use a Gesipa Accubird for work. they are very good. We mostly use 3/16 stainless steel Huck rivets. It will pull around 200 on a charge which is great. Comes with multiple tips for different rivets, I would give it a big thumbs up.:thumbsup:

Getting to Grips with Bump Steer...

you might find it easier if you chart your movements. if when you chart your readings you get an "S" looking curve ( toe in through toe out, or vice versa. ) it is an indication to start looking at rack or tie rod length or both. If those lengths are right then you will get either no bump...

944 torque tube type gearbox suitability

Ian The 944 transaxle is basically a derivative of the Audi 016 gearbox. Points for, Better 1st and 2nd ratios and final drive ratio and the availability of an LSD. Points against, No mounting points for clutch actuation parts. A search will probably find a few more for and against, but...

    930 Transaxle upgrade

Not quite sure if this is relevant here because i do not know the porsche gear box designations. Holinger Engineering It might be of some interest as it looks to have a good torque rating.

Sorry for the quallity of the drawing, I'm not the best with cut and paste in Paint.

    Serpentine setup

An Auto Tensioner is a very necessary thing with serpentine belts. Best placed on the unloaded side of the drive. This is how I would do it.

    Wheel bearing grease

Most bearing systems that I have worked on with Nylos rings also have a V ring installed to act albeit marginally as a seal. As for grease, I would not go to a marine grease. I would use either Mobilith SHC 100 or SHC 200. These are a synthetic style of grease and will handle high temperatures...

    best engine purchase choice?

As Scott says, Defiantly go for a complete car. Or a second choice as we in New Zealand call it a Half or front cut. Getting all the parts you may want in one go is the best thing to do. Buying from wreckers always ends up costing more and are not always compatible. and you can sell what you do...

    Transaxle I.D.

This appears to be an 013 gearbox. The predecessor of the 016, some parts are interchangeable with the 016, but most parts (gears and shafts) are listed as no longer available in the VAG parts list.

    Lucas wiper motor

It is most likely you have a problem with your cable rather than your motor. I had the same problem in my road car using Lucas wiper and cable. turned out the wound spring section that creates the rack effect had broken and was allowing the spring to slide up and down on the wire center...

    UN1 Rebuild

You are right in what you are saying, however I think you may have missed one of the points raised. When installed in a car you need to look at it from the reverse point of view. A car at a given speed will require a set amount of torque being applied to the wheel to maintain this speed. This...

    302 Engine and Carb issues

I would plump for a balance issue. More to the point a couple imbalance. Heavy points opposite each other at opposite ends of the crank. This will run smoothly at some speeds but vibrate badly at certain speeds. Your crank should be balanced fully assembled with bob weights on the rod journals...

    Ford motor/Audi transmission adaptions

Hi there Chris. I could well be interested in an adaptor, Nissan JDM VH41 to Audi 016 trans if you produce such a conversion. Tim

Teething problems with G50 & 2nd drive - suggestions please

Dave. One more check before you pull your trans out. Check that your clutch master cylinder is returning fully and the fluid port is opening properly. If the port is not opening properly then you might not be getting enough fluid transfer. I have seen this situation, everything will bleed up...

    Audi 016 Parts list.

Does anyone have a parts list for the Audi 016 Transaxle? I have tried all the usual searches and come up blank. I have just purchased two 016 gearboxes. An AAZ and a 3U. both came from 2.2 petrol Audi 100s. I will be fitting one of these behind a JDM VH41 in a full composite monocoque called...
